Incredible photo project reveals the wide diversity of Americans in uniform
Do you know what America’s veterans look like?
There are approximately 21.8 million veterans in the United States, according to the census. But it can be difficult sometimes to see the diversity of faces that make up such an imposing statistic. Here are a few things we do know: Out of 21.8 million veterans, approximately 1.3 million of them are living uninsured, according to the Urban Institute, while according to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, 60,000 veterans are currently homeless sleeping on our streets.
A new photo series called The Soldier Art Project aims to change this, capturing the humans who inhabit the uniforms in powerful and often poignant portraits.
I think what is important about Viola Davis taking her wig off on How to Get Away With Murder is that it illustrates that there is a mask that women are thought to have to wear. For black women, it can be a more complex mask. Our culture has created a very limited view of what beauty is and can be. I think right now television is one of the places where women are pushing up against that and saying, “You know what? I don’t need to play this game anymore in order to be considered beautiful.

I think this is fake, but if not ... bring it! Zombie Apocalypse. Fuck yeah! Bring me my shotgun.
Fuck.
What the Internet (un)Learned me Today:
1. I hardcore need a pet Aye Aye. They are adorable creatures that I'm pretty sure are really elves from the underworld masquerading as monkeys.
2. There is an immortal baby named Brooke Greenberg who at 19 may hold the key to immortality - if the Volturi don't get to her first.
3. Animals enjoy music too. Snowball is one mad-cool dancing parrot with a killer mohawk. If I were a parrot, I'd definitely hit that.
4. Halloween Costume Idea: Rae from Black Snake Moan.
Are you going to "The Beatles: The Lost Concert" movie premier in a few weeks?
Hmm, haven't heard of it. Sounds legit though. I'll check it out. Thanks!
I was perusing lookbook.nu for fashion inspiration when I saw this girl's post with her nail ring. I've never seen one before and they look so cool! Can't wait to get one.
My friends told me they had received this e-mail and I was super jealous. So I'm so happy I got it now! I am officially, according to okcupid, amongst the most attractive people. Now I can cancel my profile.
On my way home from class last night I saw that a fair was being set up. So I bought 14 pre-sale ride tickets. I'm SOO excited to go on the rides with my gorgeous new guy. :) If anyone is near USC, you should go. It's gonna be a beautiful day and a great way to spend a Friday afternoon. <3
After: The fair was super fun. It was way low-key. There were not many people there, probably because it was Friday. Me and my guy were the only ones on most of the rides. I'm glad I got the pre-sale tickets because some of the rides would not be worth the full price. However, it was still fun. My favorite was the pseudo supreme scream. It went higher than I thought. It was beautiful at night we could see all the lights of downtown and then it suddenly drops you. The hang glider ride was also fun. There's the beautiful view and the you glide through the air. There was the ride that's like a ferris wheel but you're in a cage that spins. All my change fell out and was rattling around the cage. Then my keys fell out, but my guy caught them before they fell out of the cage. Both the haunted houses were semi-small and lame though, so I wouldn't recommend those. My guy played a shooting game and won me my baby giraffe. We sat on a park bench and ate funnel cake with strawberries and cream and drank horchata and then we cuddled and whispered sweet nothings to each other for possibly an hour. I'm not sure. Time seems to stand still and be utterly insignificant when we're together. We were kissing and the security guard flashed his flashlight at us; as we were walking away I heard his security buddy tell him we should get a room. Apparently, no PDA is allowed at the carnival.
I love your blog! <3 c:
Aww, thanks girlie! I <3 yours too and your fashion taste. All the pics you choose are so beautiful.
