i really hate when people dismiss the ending of his dark materials because it leans into the trope "love saves the world". truly, that is what the story is about, but reducing it to a cliché is doing a disservice to the point the story is making. when it says that love says the world, it's rewriting the meaning of sin by saying that giving into desire is not shameful. it's telling us to be brave enough to experience. it's saying that dying for love can have powerful impact, but living for it is much more romantic. it's saying that storytelling saves the world, because telling stories is a language of love. it's saying that the bonds we create with other people will outlast death as long as we share our memories. it's showing how a simple childhood friendship is extraordinary enough to change the course of a war between heaven and earth. is there a better way to end a trilogy that intertwines so many paths of love than with a kiss that shifts the fabric of multiple universes?

reading: ...nothing - yet!!! i will start reading. the three musketeers. it was my to-read book in 2025 and i failed that (been in the biggest slump!) so i'm hoping to do better this year. i wanna start filling the gaps of classics i haven't read yet!

last series: would i lie to you. my parents sometimes watch it as a palate cleanser before bed and over christmas i joined them for a few episodes... i've just not been in the mood to start any new shows tbh. but i have been considering rewatching person of interest if i can find it somewhere. it just feels very pertinent, given the current tech landscape!

last film: the rose of versailles! revolution and pretty clothes idk what more one could want (a happy ending for oscar maybe?????)

last song: save rock and roll by fall out boy... the year's looking like it's gonna be a return to my emo roots!

sweet or salty: these days, i'd say salty! but i don't like really salty foods (i don't even cook with more than a pinch, so im just not used to it). find myself craving more savoury things in general now though, whereas even just a couple of years ago i had much more of a sweet tooth!

coffee or tea: TEAAAAAAA!!! i don't drink coffee! not allowed caffeinated tea with my adhd meds though so i've been having more herbal or floral blends. but when i take days off i have this beautiful black tea mixed with cornflower and marigold that tastes soooo nice <3

working on: a couple of fics atm but i am NOT talking about them (sowwy). also i'm working on taking photos of my lolita collection so i can make a wardrobe post soon <3 but the light's been so bad that it's hindered progress.... plus there's more to photograph than i realised and actually im lazyyyyy

reading: sadly I've also not really been reading much lately😔 I'm *theoretically* part way through Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers, but it's been ages since I've picked it up... (I was liking it though! Life just gets in the way of concentration sometimes🙃) I think I need to get stuck into a good audiobook... (oops hang on I've actually just started The Sea Gives Up the Dead by Molly Olguín - because hell yeah, short stories written by one of the writers of The Pasithea Powder?! Not super vibing with the narrator tbh, but still enjoying it!)

last series: *wait why am I suddenly having to rack my brain to even think what I've watched lately??*... It's a while since I've actually watched an episode, but I've been making my way through Hacks with my dad (it's not as good as I want it to be but there have been some really funny jokes)! Oh and I'm still watching Star Trek: The Original Series lol

last film: I Swear (highly recommend!!! Great movie!!!)

last song: Incomprehensible by Big Thief

sweet or salty: hmmm probably sweet? (The exception being that salty popcorn is infinitely superior to sweet popcorn of course!👌)

working on: uhhh again this is making me realise just how slack I've been on a lot of my hobbies lately... though I have lots of unfinished craft projects, the only one I'm actively working on rn is a latch-hook kit my sister gave me last christmas (it's a great thing for just picking up and doing a tiny bit of at a time whenever you want something to occupy your hands👌). I want to start crocheting something new but haven't decided on quite what yet (though I have a few ideas...)
