it makes us chuckle a bit at seeing people be disappointed with dark bring revealed to have killed mitsi because. what did you expect? its alan becker. his writing has always been the safest option that doesnt hurt anyone important to the plot for more then an episode or make characters actually suffer the consequences of their actions.
he puts all the blame of mitsis death onto dark because its easy. he had CG forgive king when he was about to end the world and kill 6 kids 5 minutes earlier because its easy. its like he gives his plot plot armor.
chosen being revealed to have killed mitsi wouldve made alan have to put effort into plot beats and actually think about his characters actions beyond what looks the coolest. and i feel some people are blinded with their frustration with chosen to notice that this makes darks character even more interesting yes this is a dark glaze post.
dark is the bad guy. hes the villain, every story needs one. but his biggest flaw is he never learns his lesson. he cant understand that other sticks have lives and opinions outside of him. especially chosen. he terrorizes a bunch of the outernet before settling down with plans to terrorize it even more. its implied he never once asks chosen what he wants, if he wants this like how dark does.
dark assumes that "oh this kid blew up a teenagers pc with me and that teenager hurt both of us, were coming from the same place" and only realizes hes wrong way too late. he feels like he has a moral obligation to make alan suffer for what he did to them, even if chosen is against it. "chosen would feel so much better if we just sent a little virus to his pc and then ruled the world."
and i dont think he wants revenge on second either. yeah hed love to get his hands on the kid but this kids got powers. that clearly can be harnessed without killing dark again.
darks gotten way better at manipulation in the time he was dead. you could see his feeble attempts at it when chosen is stopping him from sending the first virabot. the small body language signs of him genuinely not understanding why chosen doesnt want this turning into "if youre not my friend then youre my enemy".
hes been following victim for years. he saw how vulnerable vic was and how he wont stop at anything to get what he wants: live his life and grow from alans abuse > get revenge on chosen for killing mitsi > get revenge on dark for killing mitsi. dark knows h4ck3r is all of those insecurities and that righteousness dialed up to 11.
after watching h4ck3r 1v1 alan, dark knows h4ck3r isnt done. "look, you and me want the same thing yeah? revenge on that guy. if you help me... i can bring your dear little wife back. do we have a deal?". dark knows he cant say no-- "revenge on the guy who tortured me for 8 months and my wife back? and this guys seems like hes on my side. he seems like he wants the same thing as me. deal."
and yeah. dark did get mitsi back. he just forgot to mention he was using h4ck3rs retribution against him to make a zombie army of sticks to take over the world.
the small amount of attention given to no one this episode was on purpose. darks an unreliable narrator. hes way more focused on the manipulation army stuff to talk to cho. but the camera keeps panning back to no one. yeah the guys powerless and in the fetal position most of the episode but hes haunting darks narrative.
same goes with CG. obviously the episodes focused on second powers being harnessed, but the camera keeps panning back to RYGB when this stories being told through darks eyes. darks demons-- his consequences of his actions follow him and are literally in the room with him the entire episode.
his revenge has turned into malice. hurting people and keeping them alive lets him get a good look at their face.
all i can ask is alan doesnt try to redeem dark in any way. have an evil character be evil and not make them realize what they did was wrong seconds before they die. dark doesnt have anyone on his side and he knows that. who would he want to redeem himself for?
