imagine if u will someone you care about very greatly but who has self esteem in the lowest pits of hell, actually, and they get transformed into a manifestation of how they see themself: a small, skittering, terrified little creature with too many eyes and limbs and claws like brambles and no mouth at all, no mouth to scream, and nothing coherent or cohesive to its design. And behind all of that, trapped inside this cluster of sludge and blackened flesh, is this tiny, shivering little Thing that beats like a heart, as fragile as a newborn lamb, trembling and frail without eyes or ears. Just this little mass of quivering flesh that could fit neatly in the palm of your very hand. What is your #1 video game recommendation

#Hollow Knight so you can then play Silksong #i will never stop thinking about the story and world #the music is gorgeous the art is gorgeous they're extremely challenging but teach you how to play them #they reward meticulous exploration with additional resources and lore #they're a great soulslike and a great metroidvania and make me cry #and the story and worldbuilding and themes are excruciatingly good and ripe for analysis

(I wanted to include as many as possible but I had to cut 2 members for this poll because there are only so many slots and so my sacrificial lambs are avid and owen. because let's not kid ourselves)

#i voted pyro bc I think they hate themself enough that the pov is relatively honest #sometimes too self-destructively cruel but it MOSTLY stays pretty factual/ isnt trying to put spin on things #my guess is that someone like martyn or apo might also have relatively unskewed povs #but i haven't seen every apo ep and very little of martyn so that's less certain #much love to the legundo voting but the cc is presenting a Very Particular Narrative that by necessity isnt always 1:1 w/ reality #i do think he is one of the povs where you get LESS skew (esp less townie vs vampire siloing)#but quite frankly it's too *good* to be an unbiased representation of (rp) reality #the vote for scott is going to make me crash out #vsmp

Thanks so much to Zach Wigal and Lauren Harvey of Gamers Outreach for inviting me to represent them at Bridgestone arena today to accept a grant that Lauren wrote benefitting the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt!

There were almost 200 other organizations also accepting their grants today, so while we waited our turn, I had a delightful opportunity to chat with Graden Knapp, Vanderbilt's Gaming and Technology Specialist (also pictured, the one who isn't a mascot, Stanley Cup Champion Nicholas Hague, or grant program namesake Gerry Helper). Graden is responsible for ensuring that all the game consoles, game libraries, and accessibility controllers are well-maintained and works with clinical staff to match the tech they have available to patients needs based on age and ability. It sounds like a pretty niche challenge, so I'm pleased that it seems like the hospital is in such great hands!

It was also exciting to see so many community-facing charitable organizations represented in one place.
