ŕ¨ŕ§ 2008 winter beauty routine pt 1
if you explored my recent reblogs, you could see i am NOT over the 2000s/2010s autumnal aesthetic. I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT! and honestly i don't think i can ever go back.
but, it's winter... of course. so, i can't pretend it's autumn still. why don't i make a 2000s winter series!! (yes, i'm making another series... i know i never finish them, but i will FINISH this one and the other ones created this year!)
this will be pretty detailed with a plethora of tips you can use this winter. THIS IS A SERIES, so i won't include everything in this post.
á´ ÉŞĘá´ Ęá´ę°á´Ęá´É´á´á´ęą
here's a little reference guide on the VIBE we're going for:
đđđ¸ gossip girl
đđđ¸ pretty little liars (early seasons + during the winter)
đđđ¸ seventeen magazine
đđđ¸ victoria's secret pink era
đđđ¸ juicy couture
đđđ¸ warm, vanilla sugar
đđđ¸ ipod on shuffle
đđđ¸ snow outside + fairy lights inside
đđđ¸ effortless, shiny, cozy, rosy, romantic, a bit messy BUT PERFECT!
⥠skincare âĄ
believe it or not no one was "slugging." no layering serums, no 20-step skincare routine, basically your skin just existed and you hoped for the best.
đđđ¸ wash your face with whatever cleanser was in the bathroom. i suggest something gentle and creamy like cetaphil or the classic neutrogena cream cleaner in the pump bottle. this should be the simplest step.
đđđ¸ sometimes just washing your face with water was perfect
đđđ¸ cool air was doing half the work lol
đđđ¸ tone with a rosewater spray (like the body shop's rose toner was ITTT) or clinique clarifying lotion too
đđđ¸ i have the clinique moisture surge AND the ICONIC estee lauder advanced night repair. AND I LOVE IT! it moisturizes my face so good! (yes, we all use the "night" one in the morning too, fight me)
đđđ¸ for eye cream use the benefit eyecon or clinique all about eyes. and pat pat pat with ring finger
đđđ¸ for the moisturizer the heavier the better. layer different moisturizers too!
đđđ¸ spf, always, doesn't matter rain or shine, inside or outside, neutrogena ultra sheer dry touch spf 45 is good. but i just use the walmart brand one, the big value size is my favorite so i'm not running out every month
for night:
đđđ¸ double cleanse (oil cleanser, makeup wipe and your gentle cleanser)
đđđ¸ exfoliate 2x a week
đđđ¸ same serum and eye cream
đđđ¸ and a very rich night cream.
đđđ¸ for lip treatment, i recommend vaseline or a medicated lip calm overnight
⥠shower ritual idea âĄ
i feel like the girls in 2008 LOVED smelling edible, i feel like vanilla, apple pie, cupcakes etc scents were more popular than floral scents. that could just be me. but i think adding this in your routine can really fit for winter.
đđđ¸ creamy body wash (like vanilla, coconut, warm sugar shea, hot cocoa)
đđđ¸ loofah or fluffy bath sponge
đđđ¸ shampoo + conditioner with sweet scents
đđđ¸ this is optional: shave with eos cream or shaving oil
extra 2008 touches:
đđđ¸ music playing in the bathroom
đđđ¸ towel wrapped turban
đđđ¸ body spray sprayed directly into the steam!!
body care ideas
đđđ¸ vanilla lotions
đđđ¸ sugar-scented body wash
đđđ¸ layering lotion + perfume
đđđ¸ smelling like desert
đđđ¸ reapplying lotion to dry hands CONSTANTLY
⥠hair âĄ
make sure you all look for YOUR hair type. 1-4 hair type and find the styles that look the best. if you wanna wear your natural hair or experiment with other styles FEEL FREE To!
đđđ¸ side part
đđđ¸ soft curls
đđđ¸ straightened ends
đđđ¸ volume at the crown
đđđ¸ for curly/coily hair: low bun, mid-bun, pigtails, ponytails, defined, blow-dried
đđđ¸ bangs swept to the side
đđđ¸ ponytail w/ teased top
đđđ¸ half up half down
hair extras:
đđđ¸ leave-in conditioner
đđđ¸ shine spray
đđđ¸ hair perfume
đđđ¸ glitter hair spray
đđđ¸ hair clips and headbands
⥠maintenance during school âĄ
things to keep in your bag:
đđđ¸ lip gloss
đđđ¸ hand sanitizer
đđđ¸ hand cream
đđđ¸ mini perfume
đđđ¸ hair brush
đđđ¸ gum
đđđ¸ compact mirror
đđđ¸ tissues
đđđ¸ hair tie
đđđ¸ mints
đđđ¸ lip calm
đđđ¸ hair tie
đđđ¸ mints
đđđ¸ mini lotion
đđđ¸ more gloss
đđđ¸ blush if faded
đđđ¸ mascara if smudged
⥠2008 aesthetic details âĄ
đđđ¸ glitter lotion
đđđ¸ sparkly nails
đđđ¸ french tips
đđđ¸ light pink polish
đđđ¸ press-on nails
đđđ¸ rhinestone accessories + hair clips
đđđ¸ plush robe
đđđ¸ fuzzy socks
đđđ¸ scented candles
đđđ¸ a very large lip gloss collection lol
đđđ¸ PINK TOWELS!
đđđ¸ overly stuffed makeup bag
alright i don't want to make this post TOO long. for the next post i'll go more in depth and detail. this is going to be a mini-series you all can use during the winter.

how i study when my energy is low but my goals are high
i no longer wait to feel motivated.
as someone who's goals are super high, like becoming a doctor, living in a new york penthouse, going to an ivy league med school.
i don't have time to wait for motivation to start working on attaining my goals. some days i want my goals more than i have energy for them.
and that's fine.
â what âlow energyâ actually means for me
my low energy isn't random, it comes from thinking all the time, consuming all the way, always having something open in my mind. even when i'm resting, i'm still processing. what i actually need in these moments is predictability. like familiar routines, gentle structure that tells my nervous system, "hey, you're safe enough to focus"
â how i study when i feel drained
i lower the activation energy.
⥠â books already open, i like setting this up because it's the first step to surrounding myself with what i need to actually start
⥠â tabs preloaded. one of my favorite tasks. organizing my tabs into groups and naming them help me stay organized and make it less-distracting.
⥠â notes half-started. the date, time, topic, energy level etc
⥠â i start before i feel ready. i immediately start my Pomodoro timer. (i use flocus, but most of the time i like to use ambient/music Pomodoro's on youtube. and i just start, no thinking, no planning. just start
⥠â i keep sessions short so my brain doesn't panic. not 45 minutes, not 60 minutes, just 20-25 minutes and a 5-minute break always.
the goal is to make starting stupidly easy
⥠â one topic only. i have this strange addiction to multitasking. like right now as i'm writing this blog post, i'm also planning other parts of my brand, planning my study schedule tomorrow, and rebranding myself for 2026. yes.... but when it comes to studying, i choose one topic only,
⥠â i also set one clear outcome for each study session. like read, review, rewrite, finish ___ chapter. etc
my brain relaxes when it knows there's an ending, and a goal at the end of the session
i also like to keep my study environment more intimate during my low energy days
⥠â for my lighting choices, i hate using overhead lights when studying, so i like to use my desk lamp, or warm fairy lights
⥠â when i'm reading something i like everything silent, but sometimes rain ambience is really nice to listen to.
⥠â i loveeeee warm drinks, homemade coffee + caramel macchiato creamer. plus, i like setting the temperature to be cool, not too cold, not too warm.
i also don't like to change my study system during these days. i choose gentle study methods like
⥠â rereading with a pen in hand to annotate
⥠â active recall, but only a few questions
⥠â i also explain concepts out loud.
i learned to stop before i'm depleted. i end sessions while i still have a little energy left. i also leave something unfinished on purpose, so i can slowly return back later before the end of the day. this is how i build trust with myself.
i do not support toxic motivation, i will not push myself until i burnout of fall into depression. i stop when it feels kind.
â what i donât do anymore
⥠â i don't wait for motivation
⥠â i don't compare my pace to high energy days, because that isn't fair
⥠â i do NOT romanticize exhaustion
⥠â i stopped studying past mental saturation, never force yourself to consume information when you're depleted.
⥠â i no longer force long sessions, like i mentioned earlier in this post. i keep it to 20-25 minutes only, nothing beyond that.
⥠â i also don't turn one low-energy day into a story about failure. i used to do this a lot.
how i measure success now
⥠â i show up gently
⥠â i touch the material daily, at least once
⥠â i don't avoid the subject, even if i hate it
you do not need to suffer to be serious. these are all little reminders and tasks i've been doing this winter to just enjoy studying more. winter has always been a low-energy season for me, so keeping all this in mind whenever i focus on my academics has really changed a lot for me.

stop ignoring yourself. fix your posture, get a fresh haircut, drink water, take care of your skin, eat food that gives you energy, declutter your space, take time to rest, workout, do mindful meditation, fix your sleep schedule. when you feel/look good, you do good. invest in yourself, put the effort you deserve.
â things to do to feel put together without looking âdoneâ âĄ
this is for days when you donât want to fully try but you also donât want to feel messy or all over the place
feeling put together isnât about makeup or outfits, itâs more about little things adding up
pick one thing and actually do it
not everything. just one. brushing your hair properly, lip balm, clean brows, a comfy but intentional outfit. one small effort already changes how the whole day feels
simple always looks calmer
nothing too tight, nothing too complicated. soft colors, easy layers, things you donât have to think about. when your outfit feels calm, you do too
skin first, always
even no makeup looks better when your skin feels okay. moisturizer, lip balm, maybe a little concealer if you want. thatâs enough
hair doesnât need effort, just control
brushed and left alone, tied back neatly, clipped up. messy on purpose is fine, messy by accident just feels annoying
clean hands change everything
short nails, clean cuticles, even with no polish. this alone makes you feel way more put together than you expect
have one âyouâ thing
same earrings, same ring, same scent, same bag. repetition makes you feel consistent even on low effort days
donât rush if you donât have to
moving a little slower makes you feel more in control. rushing is what makes everything feel chaotic, not how you look
feeling put together isnât about doing more. itâs about doing a few things on purpose and letting that be enough âĄ
