Hi, I’m currently obsessed with Ovenbirds (Seiurus aurocapilla) after taking a field ornithology course this spring. They were very common and we caught and banded several of them, very cute and chill birds. May I request some pics of them? Thanks!!

Ovenbird (Seiurus aurocapilla), family Parulidae, order Passeriformes, Alabama, USA

This species is not related to South American Ovenbirds (family Furnariidae), but is instead in the New World/Wood Warbler family Parulidae.

The common name comes from the oven-shaped ground nest they make, which is domed, and constructed of woven together plant materials (such as grasses and pine needles).

Do you ever think about how Cleo went from being force fed blood for 80 years as a way to deprive them of control over their own body, to slowly dying from the withdrawals even as they got their free will back for the first time since they were 13, to needing to drink blood for sustenance?

The need for blood never went away for them. It changed from a mechanism of control, to a lack that would kill them, to the only thing they could eat.

I wonder if vampire blood, apparently highly addictive, tastes the same to a human as human blood tastes to a vampire. I wonder if there was ever a moment when the blood of an animal (or a human) hit their tongue and they were reminded of Aric.

Headcanon I'm releasing into the world:

Back before he had his cabin in the woods around Oakhurst, Owen would take shelter in the alleys by the town theater. The theater was large enough that the alleys beside it were a bit less used, so it meant fewer people shooing him off, and fewer people to treat him like he didn't exist.

From there, he could hear the troupe practicing, reciting lines and playing with the subtleties of delivery. These weren't necessarily happy times, but they were...peaceful, and the eaves would shelter him from rain.

This is where both his large vocabulary and his dramatic manner of speech come from: it sounds like a performance because he learned from performers.
