non-rpfers really dont get that the point of it all is the blurred lines between performance and reality—that everything in media is mediated and that no matter how much we can try to search, read, learn about somebody, we can't ever distinguish the whole 'truth' because of the unreliable nature of what's given to us. and the fun of it all is not just the searching but also the dissecting how culture has interacted with these people esp in regards to queerness... how their beliefs of not just being gay or trans affect how they act
