Three years ago my dad brought his girlfriend Brandi along to the 1989 tour in Pittsburgh. She was happy to wear the sparkly t-shirt I made, hold the heavy light-up sign all night, and give me tissues when I bawled during Taylor’s speech before Clean. As I watched her and my dad slow-dance to Love Story in a crowd of thousands as Taylor whirled above us on a flying catwalk, I understood the power of her music for what felt like the first time. Last weekend my dad proposed and I am so incredibly grateful that Brandi has been a part of our lives for the past three years and will continue to be for years to come. Taylor’s music has single handedly been the soundtrack to their relationship, providing a song for every high and every low along the way.
