A majority of my life people have told me I can pass as a Dominican and that I shouldn’t walk around by myself on the island. I am glad I didn’t. I was getting catcalled like crazy. Even though I saw a small piece of this country, I am not disappointed. I do however need to go back. I was able to drink an authentic Dominican Expresso and Mama Juana. Que Rico. My first Carnival as a masquerader. I crossed the stage. Another thing checked off my bucket list. And it was caught on camera. Saw Destra performing again. Met nice people. Did a rookie mistake and mix light with dark liquor. Stopped drinking after that. I was always self conscious about being naked in front of all these people but they honestly don’t care. Was feeling good enough to go to my first film festival. I enjoyed watching the different stories and concepts of the figments of imagination from creatives that transformed into works of art that become winners at the festival. Some were a hit and miss for me. #Synchronic was the hit. The best film there was at the event. I am not saying that because I participated in the film. No! @andresi09 did more in a short time than the other filmmakers. #Synchronic made you want more and kept you on your toes. The actors were believable. Especially the little princess who nailed her parts. This film will be released on @piccenplay in the fall. So I caved and went the emergency room. The experience was better than last time. They gave me the option of being admitted to receive narcotics or wait for the specialist that I needed. I refused being admitted because they would just keep me for 3 days and if you have ever been admitted… it sucks. The specialist never showed but worked magic to move my appointment up. It’s no secret I am a #lupuspatient I don’t look sick but I am. #invisibleillness fools people to thinking that I am “healthy” Maybe I like that. I do more than a “healthy” person to prove a point that we #autoimmunepatients are not weak. We are strong. We are #fighters. But these past few days humbled me. Told me to slow the fuck down. #Lupus is currently attacking my lungs and my breathing is hindered. My lupus is usually quiet but this time it wanted to be seen. I had to realize that I can’t be that hard worker and do everything. I had to rely on my coworker to do part of my job. I felt embarrassed but it’s something I had to do for my health.
