Intentional misspellings and unusual handling of words is one of my favorite “minor” memes tbh I love it so much. Here are some of my all time favorites:

▪ Replacing “ck” with “cc” (ie. succ, thicc)

▪ Replacing “t” with “d” and vice-versa (ie. gotdamn,shid,blocket)

▪ Just… every kind of weird variation you can do with the word “fuck” (ie. fuckening, fucky)

▪ Weird jumbling of curse words that somewhat resemble something coherent (ie. mother fuck of a shit, shut the hell your mouth)

▪ Replacing a vowel in a word with another (ie. borger)

But telling other people they *should* include characters YOU think they should because they possess a specific quality that has jack shit to do with the writing and everything to do with your politics is simply unacceptable. Because you fuckers never stop with a nudge. Ever. It never stops with “Just… just put in a character here… and here”. It becomes “and make the character say this… or else” and then becomes “and make these other characters say this… or else”.

Fun fact: having lgbt characters makes no impact whatsoever on your writing. The only charcters that SHOULD be written are well-developed ones, regardless of sexuality and gender.

I know this post pool is already long enough as is, but i want to add to it. As a writer, and to all other writers out there, it’s our job to build our worlds, casts and universes the way we see fit, and to whatever narrative we’re going for.

Our characters should be their own because we want them to be. I shouldn’t have to add a black character, or a Jewish character, or, hell, let’s take it a step further: polykin, apple gendered, aromantic, demiboy from the planet Plutonium 7 located in the Andromeda Galaxy, just because it suits other people’s wants.

A character should be crafted to whatever the writer wants them to be because it goes with the character as a whole: motivation, backstory– everything. Not as a need to act as a mouthpiece for the writer’s, or even that generation’s political feelings.

So, yeah. go ahead and make an LGTBQ character. Make twenty of them for all I care, but make them their own first. What are their hobbies? Their motivations for their goals? Their relationships and feelings about other characters?

In my opinion, sexuality and gender identity should come last on the character latter. For it to take top priority feels fetishistic.

A cast should be a cast first and foremost. Never a checklist.
