I feel obligated to reblog this every time it shows up in my dash
No bragging, just 100% floored and grateful. Work hard, maintain a positive attitude, and believe that anything can happen.
So I reblogged this exactly a week ago because I thought it was funny and uh lo and behold, a family friend wrote me a big olā check just to help me out of a tough financial spot AND my bank refunded me $32 for fees theyād originally taken out. SO UH YEAH. Reblogging this again in hopes that it brings equally good fortune to my followers.
Sure why not? Jobs bring in money and prosperityā¦

sometimes i think about gay people who lived centuries ago who thought they were all alone who imagined a world where they could live openly as themselves who met in secret spoke in code defied everything and everyone just to exist and iām like..i gotta sit down. whew i gotta sit down
this is why this sappho fragment hits me so hard
I think about this poem all the time.
After yesterdayās election, if you have any spare money please donate to ur local food banks.
I donāt have a lot of spare money, but even just a value supermarket pack of pasta & pasta sauce is about Ā£1. Even buying something like that and giving it to your local food bank is still SOMETHING, a family with no money under this shitty austerity government could use that for a dinner. Just Ā£1 could be the difference between a family going to bed with or without dinner.
āāWhen I was about 20 years old, I met an old pastorās wife who told me that when she was young and had her first child, she didnāt believe in striking children, although spanking kids with a switch pulled from a tree was standard punishment at the time. But one day, when her son was four or five, he did something that she felt warranted a spankingāthe first in his life. She told him that he would have to go outside himself and find a switch for her to hit him with. The boy was gone a long time. And when he came back in, he was crying. He said to her, āMama, I couldnāt find a switch, but hereās a rock that you can throw at me.ā All of a sudden the mother understood how the situation felt from the childās point of view: that if my mother wants to hurt me, then it makes no difference what she does it with; she might as well do it with a stone. And the mother took the boy into her lap and they both cried. Then she laid the rock on a shelf in the kitchen to remind herself forever: never violence. And that is something I think everyone should keep in mind. Because if violence begins in the nursery one can raise children into violence.āā
ā Astrid Lindgren, author of Pippi Longstocking, 1978 Peace Prize Acceptance SpeechĀ (via i-contain-multitudes)
Maturity is realising that other people are not mind readers, even those who love you. Itās on you to reach out, talk about how you feel, and to explain yourself. āEverybody is busy living their own lives and is caught up in their own issues & problems, amidst all that you canāt expect them to magically be in tune with your every need and emotion. Communicate.
