Carnival of Aros Call for Submission: The Intersection of Religion and Aromanticism
Happy May everybody! For this monthās Carnival of Aros I picked a topic that I wish people talked about more in aro spaces: the intersection of religion and being aromantic. I know that many aroās donāt practice any particular faith, so I will be including prompts that secular folks can respond to, as well as some prompts specific to religious aros. I canāt wait to see what people have to say!
What is the Carnival of Aros?
The Carnival of Aros is a monthly blogging festival for the aro and aro-spec community. A new host picks a discussion topic at the beginning of each month and people submit responses to the topic throughout the month. When the carnival is over the host creates a summary post with links to every submission. You can find more information here.Ā Ā
Guidelines for Posting About Religion
Religion can be a touchy subject for many people. As a result, I would like to give a few quick guidelines to follow so that this can be a safe and productive discussion.
If your post discusses religious trauma please include a content warning at the beginning of the post so that people can avoid it if need be. Ā Ā
Responses should not be Islamophobic, Antisemitic or bigoted against any other religion. If they are they will not be included in the end of month summary post.
Try to make sure that the language youāre using isnāt dismissive of other peoples belief in a deity, even if you personally donāt believe in that deity.
Do not use negative words such as āgrossā āweirdā or āwrongā to describe other peopleās religious practices as this is frequently considered offensive. Ā Ā
