This is our version of "Come As You Are" by a Nirvana. The crowd seems to love this.

PS - Shout out to @Highway81Rvstd for the link.
Alec does Frank Ocean.
Back.
For musicians these days hitting the road is where the real money is at, as long as people actually show up to see you play. That's where tech startup Rabbl hopes to come in.
Jacket Season
So this is the new jacket for the forthcoming EP that we released yesterday. Expertly put together by the tireless Robbie Guertin, I'm feeling pretty good about this. The vinyl pre-orders are going like hotcakes and I've been to the post office twice to send out records and cds. I've spent the past 48 hours in a K-hole of interwebs frenzy. Tweeting, Facebooking, Instagramming, spamming: all of the 7 deadly digital sins. I feel like a husk of my former self. This is fine since I need to lose some weight anyway, but I'd like the technology loop of dopamine seeking clicking to end at some point in the near future. Anyway, people seem to be pretty psyched about the new tunes and that's what's most important. Well that and checking Twitter.

NEW MUSIC!

Ah. The mythic Yamaha DX7 keyboard. Alec bought one of these in the early aughts he claims "because I heard Brian Eno used one". Some consider these to be what was wrong with music in the 80's as they are indeed ubiquitous on that decade's most popular records. Nonetheless, sounds from this keyboard can be heard in such Clap favorites as "Over and Over Again", "Tidal Wave", and "Gimme Some Salt". Delicious kitsch.

Tasty headphones.
This picture is from way back in the heady days of 2005, I believe on our tour with the National. I may be mistaken but I think we broke off on our own here and were headlining at Grimey's in Nashville. The look on my face kind of says it all. Good old touring crazy eye. If I may interpret, my mind was being blown by touring for the first time, how fast everything was happening for us, and how badly we all smelled. Note the kick drum art by Dasha Shishkin who also did the art for the first album.

Name Drops
Fun Fun Fun Fest 2012. We went on just after Okkervil River when the sun went down and Reggie Watts was doing his act across the festival grounds at a different stage. I'm pretty sure he was making fun of our name. Earlier that day I went to watch a different band from backstage and turned around to see Ryan Gosling just behind me. He was there apparently filming Terrence Malick's latest movie. Life is bizarre sometimes.

Awww, look at that ridiculous phone.
We're an American band...
