There is a close up photo of a vibrant, orange colored flower surrounded by dirt and other blooming orange flowers. There is also a photo of curving vines, with vibrant orange flowers in the background. The leaves are light green, as well as a darker green. These two photos fit together because of the hints of orange and bright greens.
The photo is of a dirty shovel, rake, and two more tool supplies in a wheelbarrow. Only the top half of the dirt filled wheelbarrow is in the photo. The shovel is used, as there is mud on the back of it. It is also raining, as there are raindrops on the metal part of the rake. The black and white enhances this photo by highlighting the gloomy weather, and making the tools seem abandoned, as if the workers were taking a break from the rainy weather.Â
The photo is of a broken door, with peeling paint off of the sections of glass. There is also wood leaning up against the broken door and run down bricks. The blur highlights the brokenness of the door, as it focuses only on the torn up paint.Â
The photo involves a storefront called Bistro 18. It is a run down, abandoned, restaurant, with pieces of the paint on the walls coming off, as well as covered windows. The filter enhances the details and darkens the edges of the entire photo, which gives this a more mysterious look. It makes the run down, beat up storefront seem eerie, as if it were haunted.
This student made a ceramic in her Ceramics class. She made a coil vase and a slab box. This specific ceramic fades from light blue to dark blue with an abundance of small leaves surrounding the dark blue ring. This photo was titled “Ocean Breeze” because of the blue colors, similar to the colors of an ocean.
The blur enhances this photo by making it seem dreamy. It takes away from the literal meaning of a girl standing by a bike, and turns it into a fantasy, like there is a deeper meaning behind the girl and the bike.Â
This filter enhanced my photo because it changed the foliage to a vibrant red. It also highlighted the slight red highlights in the girl’s hair to a much darker red, along with enhancing her eyes to a bright blue color.Â
My classmate Annie said that the girl looks as if she is in a daze because she is serious and glaring off into the distance. Even though she is by a bike, it doesn’t seem as if she is going to use it for a ride or exercising purposes because she is in jeans and a nice top. The blur and lighting makes it seem dreamy because of the streaks surrounding the girl.
This girl seems to feel content, as she is surrounded by the vibrant colors of the nature surrounding her. She has a smirk on her face which emphasizes how she is in a good mood. It seems as if she has layers on, and her face is pale, which shows that it is chilly.
This photo is of my friend Amanda who modeled for me. She is standing between two yellow school buses. It seems as if she is at an old bus lot, because the background does not indicate any signs of a school. She seems to be in a happy mood, as her lips are smirked and her eyes are focused. It can also be implied that she is about to say something, and that she is not there alone, as her mouth is slightly open and she is bright-eyed.
Richard Renaldi’s work inspires me because it often times involves more than one person, which can add the aspect of human interaction in his photos. For example, the man holding the girl portrays the relationship between a father and daughter; protective. Renaldi also makes it seem as if he is just taking random photos of people on the street, without asking them to pose or model. This makes the people seem more natural, and less like they are purposely posing for a photograph. I can incorporate this into my photos by taking pictures of my model without telling them what to do, or by making them do something people naturally do on the streets in public. This causes the photo to have the aspect of human nature, and what we naturally do on the streets. It emphasizes the beauty of humans even while we aren’t doing something very interesting.

Manhattan Sunday was one of his projects; he photographed LGBTQ+ people between midnight and 10am on Sundays, having left night clubs.
This photo portrays half of a green bowl of bright, vibrant red colored strawberries, three of them spilled in the gray and white snow. The light green color of the leaf is found in the center of the strawberry, and it is illuminated in the sun. The leaves are a deep, dark green and darker in the shadows.The vibrant color of the red on the strawberries is a found in the light, while the red of the strawberry is dull and dark when found in the shadows. There are different shades of green found in the leaves, especially on the strawberry in the top left. The lines of the bowl are as thick as a drinking straw, while the lines that outline the strawberry and leaves are as thin as paper. The lines that outline the strawberries are rounded. The texture of the strawberries is bumpy, as the small, dull, yellow seeds have shadows surrounding them. This demonstrates how the yellow seeds stick out from the smoothness of the red strawberry. The red part of the strawberry itself has a smooth texture because there are no shadows to indicate that there is a rough texture. The bowl has a similar texture to the red part of the strawberries, as the only shadows that surround it are when the bowl becomes deeper. The texture of the snow seems to be soft, as the strawberries create a larger shadow around the snow. This indicates that the weight of the strawberries falls right through the soft texture of the snow. The snowflakes sitting higher up and closer to the sun are bright and illuminated by the sky. Some patches of snowflakes appear as if they are lighting up, because the sun’s light is reflecting off of it. Other snowflake patches are deeper down in the snow, and show more of a gray color, as it is in the shadows.
The photo is of someone holding a bowl of blueberries, above a stack of firewood. The photo is different because it includes a person, which emphasizes the purpose of a bowl: to keep many, small objects in one spot in order to prevent them from spilling over. I placed the object in the center right side of the photograph. There is wood in the background and blueberries inside of the bowl. This was early in the morning, 7:30-8:00. It was cloudy outside.Â
This ordinary shovel was found in my shed. It was boring and used simply to do yard work. There seemed to be nothing special about it, but this photo shows the detail and texture of the shovel. It shows the contrast between the snow texture and the shovel texture, the shovel looking more rough and the snow looking softer.Â
The assignment was to take pictures of a sewer or drain. While taking photos of the sewer, I initially thought they would turn out boring or bland looking. Once I experimented with the snow dye and camera settings, I realized that I could make a sewer look more interesting. The shadows of the sun hitting the sewer makes the snow shine in certain places.Â
