I chose to do the 2013 Dodge Durango commercials that included Will Ferrell dressed like Ron Burgundy as my form of branded entertainment. When the Dodge Durango was released, it wasn’t a must buy in most consumers eyes, but by adding the name of Ron Burgundy it ended up changing things for Dodge. Surprisingly, this form of branded entertainment worked so well that it raised Durango’s sales by almost 40% this past year, and generated more than 21 million views. This relates to the article by Cynthia B. Meyers because she talks about branded entertainment as one way advertisers are responding to viewing trends. In this case, using famous actors or athletes in commercials is becoming a more popular tool for advertisement.
