hi mr gaiman man. I think your stuff is super cool and awesome, but I've never been able to finish any of your books — I have a lot of trouble with reading paragraphs of text (I reread lines multiple times and skip chunks by accident) and it makes it almost impossible to finish reading.

I really really want to finish one of yours though, and I'm wondering if there are any versions out there that have the text broken up into easier parts, or that somehow separate the lines to make them easy to read?

Hmm. Well, the easiest options for you might be either to go for the audio books, or to go for the comics -- either the original comics, like Sandman, or the adaptations of prose into comics form, which Dark Horse have been doing now for about 20 years, so we have several novels and many short stories in comics form.

Normally they have the text of the books, but broken up and laid out visually. Here's a page from Colleen Doran's adaptation of Snow, Glass, Apples:

Hello, Mr. Gaiman, I am interested in your short stories. I was looking through your work and found a story I never heard about, I'm not sure if it's by you, but if it is, can you tell me more? The short story is called, "We Can Get Them For You Wholesale".

I think I sent this once before but with just the picture of the cover of the story :(

It's definitely a story by me. I wrote it in 1984, it's in Smoke and Mirrors and The Neil Gaiman Reader, and it has the strange honour of being the story of mine that's been most adapted by film students -- there are a few of them still on YouTube.

Mr Gaiman! What's your opinion on the moon?

I wish Tumblr would stop collectively making things up. At this point you can find references to the “moon” everywhere. It’s almost as if people believe it’s really up there.

I really appreciate Mr. Gaiman as an author and a public figure but frankly this is going too far. The moon as a literary symbol has been in use for centuries! Shakespeare and Petrarch, Woolf and Eliot.

Even Homer referred to it along with the now-famous wine-dark sea. His constant references to the moon as a symbol of Hera (and thus probably fertility, marriage, and jealousy) has laid the basis for it to be seen as it is in modern Western canon. Usually an emerald green, with many seeds like a pomegranate, and glittering in the sea during the nights.
