“Well, considering you’re the one who suggested this, I should be more concerned with you cheating.” Tristan’s biting tone that the prince of gondour even suggested he would need to go to such lengths in order to prove he was better? Okay, maybe he kind of saw where his own cockiness could rub people the wrong way. But he had the skills to back that up. He felt like this was just the prince looking for a reason to one up him. And yes, he was totally taking the bait and that’s what was probably the worst. He knew it. “Are you standing around talking all day or are you actually going to shoot?” He rolled his eyes at the teasing compliment of being a gentleman. His mother would be horrified at this act considering all the time spent trying to instill manners in all her children.
While the other shoot, one of the Aryandale servants had arrived with a bow, which was actually not his, borrowed from whever he got it and several arrows though it was only three shots they would each take. He took the bow in hand just in time to hear the think of the arrow loosed by his competitor. Looking down range, the arrow wasn’t a bullseye but the line of the outer circle. “Thanks, I got a bow.” Though it felt entirely foreign in his hand. He was much more suited to melee fights was a sword in hand. His skills with a blade are what people talked about. He grabbed an arrow from the servant and trudged up to the line. Whatever gods are out there right now, just let the arrow hit the target. He silently thought as he notched the arrow and raised the bow to position. He pulled back on the string, feeling the tension, and he spots the target. He releases the arrow and it sails towards the target, veering low, and strikes in the second to last ring at the bottom. Another meter or so and it would have missed completely.

Claudius clapped for him, fingers slowly tapping his palm. ‘’to think i was worried to be out of the bullseye ring? it seems hard for you even get the target!’’ his eyes stayed down, trying to hide his smile. the pair walked to the next set of targets, ‘’say, maybe i could coach you in archery some day as by that first shot i think you might need it...’’ claudius trailed off, looking at the servants who were following them behind. ‘’...unless of course it was just bad luck or maybe the god’s wind was not on your side.’’ claudius thought that maybe he should settle down on the bitchy behaviour but it was the most entertaining thing that had happened yet today at the wedding... they say friendly competition is healthy but this had surpassed friendly all by his own doing. to think, he was teasing someone almost a decade younger than him.
facing the second target, claudius thanked his servant as he took the bow. ‘’tell me, prince tristan, if this is not your forte then what is?’’ he quizzed, moving into position as he carefully took out his arrow. ‘’i would like to try best you in that too.’’ he beamed, resisting all urges to wink as he walked slightly ahead to aim, making sure he was in earshot of tristan. beginning the lift the bow again, a sense of guilt waved over him & he debated missing on purpose, just to damage his own pride after being so rude to tristan. focusing on the target, he sighed, thinking of the glory of beating him on the other hand... that feeling overruled his guilt. another arrow on the target, but this time perfectly in the centre. ‘’hurrah!’’
