2K3 TMNT AU: Good Genes & Thick Hides
An alternate branch taking place during the Good Genes Arc. The cure worked! Sort of...Donatello is slowly coming back to himself, but after being double mutated, he and his family are struggling with the changes both his body and mind have undergone. Will they be able to adapt and find a new sense of 'normal'?
Heads up for: angst, hurt/comfort, minor injury/body horror, dysphoria, sibling shenanigans, teen-life crisis, turtle piles, and a 100% guaranteed happy ending.

2k3 TMNT AU: Stockman, I shrunk the Turtles!
In which some tiny turtles make a home in the walls of Stocktronics lab, doing their best to make Stockman's life as aggravating as possible. A wandering night guard by the name of Casey Jones stumbles across them on a supply run, and the rest is history.
All fluff and hijinks, little to no angst.
Would it let you down if we don't grow up?
Would it make you proud if we gave up?

(Cabin 15 & 8 )
Quiet footsteps entered the cave. Smokey wasn’t sure if Don was here or not. He wasn’t at the cabin, and Smokey knew Don avoided the busier areas of the camp, so hopefully… hopefully he was here. And if he wasn’t, then that was okay too. Smokey would just leave his gift where Don could see it.
He’d made sure it was big. Don sized! It was actually a little awkward to carry and he was definitely having trouble watching his step around it. It was totally worth it though. If this was the last chance he got to give Don something, he wanted it to be good.
It was one of his best works, in his opinion. He’d glued down a large sheet of paper to a thin metal slab to give it some support. Hot glued down around the edges were seashells and dry bowtie pasta, acting together as a frame. He’d used glittery hot glue too, and drawn some little little smileys and swirls and hearts between the shells and pasta pieces before busting the shapes with some of the purple sand from the beach. The part Smokey was most proud of though was in the middle.
It was artwork depicting their nail painting party. Front and center was Don, exactly how Smokey saw him. He’d used acrylic paint to lay down the basic shapes, then gone in with sharpie and art pens to add the details. It was all warm tones, because that’s how Smokey thought of Don - warm. He was curious and inquisitive and patient and gentle and friendly and Smokey did his best to convey that through the color palette and soft lines.
Across from Don was a significantly smaller Smokey. He’d used paint for his shell and body, before going in with pens and markers to add details and texture. His mask was made of construction paper - and he’d been able to control his fire this time so it was purposefully singed and charred in the way he wanted it! And - he thought he was genius for this part - he’d used the nail polish from that day to paint the nail polish bottle on the ground by them, before going back in and adding some to Don’s claws, to make it look like they were in the middle of painting.
In the background, there were “decorative” scorch marks, courtesy of Sparky. They’d been the fire spirit’s idea. The spirit had fronted and carefully scorched the paper where their cabin would be in the background, before letting Smokey back to the front so he could use a thin tipped sharpie and draw in the cabin’s line art.
It was one of Smokey’s favorite memories from camp. The photoshoot had been a close second, making the box turtle smile whenever he remembered Don initiating a tickle fight. But this one, painting nails - it’d been really nice. He remembered holding Don’s massive hands as he painted and feeling deeply content and happy. Don’t get him wrong, camp had been fun, but it’d also been hard, being away from home and surrounded by people Smokey didn’t know. Painting his friend’s - his brother’s - claws was the first time Smokey felt comfortable at camp.
He’d signed his name on the back with a paint pen. Sparky had left a scorch mark as their signature. (Honestly, the turtle didn’t know how the spirit had avoided melting the metal.) He didn’t leave a message this time. Just a title for the piece. My Favorite Memory.
Smokey really hoped Don liked it.
He left it carefully propped up against the cave wall. Don was out. That was okay. He was…he was probably saying goodbye to people. Smokey would just have to catch him another time before the end of camp to give the giant turtle a goodbye hug.
Sparky sent a wave of comfort through the bond. The spirit was old enough to have experienced their fair share of goodbyes. This was Smokey’s first. The spirit knew it was hard.
With a shaky breath, Smokey quickly exited the cave and went back to his cabin to pack.
If I didn't have soup brain hopped up on dayquil rn I'd have a proper little reply typed for this, so i'm sorry I can't manage a better reply!
Just know Don came back to find the gift and curled up with it immediately, he might have knocked off a few of the macaronis with his aggressive nuzzling. He's going to run to give his baby brother a big ole' tackle hug right now!

Don squeezed his eyes shut, his tail flicked out behind him, thumping repeatedly against the edge of his makeshift bed.
He’d crawled his way home the night before, exhausted from a full week of mischief, exhausted but happy. Don had flopped down into his nest for a well deserved sleep, comfortable, content, and looking forward to the following morning. He had plans to go back to his cabin after breakfast. To visit his friends, his brothers.
He’d been woken up by the camp’s final event announcement, blaring over the intercom.
“...our camp-sanctioned farewell meeting is upon us.”
Don didn’t get up.
Oh.
Camp was ending.
He’d be home soon.
Back in his proper dimension.
In his proper lair.
With dad and Leo, and Raph and Mikey.
Leatherhead and Casey and April.
Back with his proper family.
Like his instincts wanted.
Like he wanted.
….
Don thought….he thought he’d be happier than this. Excited maybe? At ease?
Of course he expected to feel a little upset, after spending months connecting with his cabin mates and interacting with other versions of his family it was only natural for there to be a feeling of loss. This experience was never going to last forever, or at least they’d all assumed so. He’d been prepared really, this wouldn’t be the first time that he’d had to part ways with new friends or family. This wasn’t catching him unawares. Really. Logically he knew that.
So why….
Why was he so….sad? No. Anxious?
Scared.
Scared to go back home.
He could hear his heartbeat, too fast as it kept pace with the stressed swing of his tail. His head was buzzing just behind it, a not so soothing white noise to fill the gaps between beats. Don wriggled until he could bury his head under the blankets, it did nothing to muffle the noise and he whined, dragging his claws across the bottom of the nest to shred the sheets he was laying on. Not like he’d be needing them much longer.
This was ridiculous. Stupid even. On the verge of panic over going back to his rightful universe.
Why did that thought scare him? Terrify him?He was going home.
Home.
Where his nest was. Is. Where his family was. Is. Where they are.
And sure, this week would probably be the last time he’d see Mike or Smokey or Mikey or Hunter or Scout or Mercury. But that was expected. That’s how experiences like this worked…when they weren’t orchestrated by some villainous higher power. You come, you meet new people, you leave. Maybe you go on a couple side quests, learn some fun morals and life lessons. Befriend a group of turtles who you can actually have a conversation with again. Sometimes you get to keep a souvenir, sometimes you even get to remember it all!
None of that really mattered though, because he’d be going home and he’d be going to see his family and-
He’d be alone.
Don’s breath stuttered and his throat clicked. His hindlegs pushed him further beneath the blankets, curling up as tightly as he was able. A high distressed trill left his beak, smothered by the folds of the comforter. His head buzzed louder. Half formed thoughts and instincts fighting for purchase.
No. That wasn’t right. He wouldn’t be alone.
His family was is there.
But it’d be quiet again.
That didn’t make sense either. Especially when his baby brother was involved. The lair was never quiet.
He would be.He would be quiet again.
Don blinked. Something cool slid down his cheek.
He’d gotten comfortable here, distracted by the games and newness of it all. He’d forgotten that this wasn’t normal. That he wouldn’t be going back home to something like this.
He wouldn’t be able to initiate play or physical touch like he could here with Hunter or Scout or the nibbles. Because his body language wouldn’t be understood.
He wouldn’t be able to enter a room and announce himself, say I love you, respond to a question like he could with Mikey or Smokey or Mercury. Because he now spoke a completely different language.
He wouldn’t be able to expect the same kind of patience, understanding, or flexibility like he could with Mike. Because he and his brothers were teenagers and despite every crazy thing they’ve experienced thus far it still wasn’t enough to help deal with what was wrong with him.Don would be alone again.
And after months of not being alone he wasn’t sure if he could survive that.
Mikey let out a calling trill as ve walked into the cave, he would've brought eir sibs but they were busy. Hues claws made soft little clicks as she made its way deeper into the den. Hopefully xe could chill with Don for a while.
Its not that Angel didn't want to go home.
Wasn't like ix was scared or anything.
The things some of the others had gone through totally didn't freak star out. Especially since most of them shared a resemblance to hearts family.
That'd be crazy! Completely-
Mercury tensed at the distressed trill from deeper in the cave, steps faltering a moment before he sped forward. A concerned churr left xem as bee rushed over to the nest once it was in sight.
Their lower hands fidgeted as it splooted in the nest to lean against Don's side with a gentle trill. Fae hoped the slight tremble of their chirps wasn't enough for the large turtle to notice.
'Hey Don! I was wondering if... you'd be up for having a cave buddy for a bit? Just to kinda chill with for a while, y'know?'
The larger turtle stiffened, tail stilling its anxious twitching.
It probably took longer than it should have for Don to make out the replying trills, for them to register beyond the still too loud buzzing in his head. His claws twitched where they were wrapped up in the sheets, kneading the fabric as he tried to clear his head. Someone else was here now and usually that’d put him on the defensive but he just couldn’t focus.
A gentle tiny weight settled against his side. Don thinks he might have flinched.
'Hey Don! I was wondering if... you'd be up for having a cave buddy for a bit? Just to kinda chill with for a while, y'know?'
Oh. Something familiar. Someone familiar. Friend. Sibling. Mikey. Mercury. Don’s breath stuttered causing him to sniffle. His throat clicked softly, instinctually replying to the spider’s soft trills and chirps. Tone reassuring despite his obvious distress. He needed to move. He wanted to see them. Don tilted his head, pressing his damp cheeks against the sheet covering his head in an attempt to wipe away the wetness. He moved to sit up, body feeling heavy and sluggish as he shook off the blankets, clawed fingers reaching to pull the sheets away.
As soon as he was able, Don was turning to face the smaller turtle, expression pained. He’d never been good at hiding his emotions, almost as much of a bleeding heart as his own baby brother. But now, with new instincts and a loudly buzzing hindbrain, he could hide even less. None of that mattered right now though. Because this little sibling needed him, bleeding heart and all. Don rumbled low in his chest, shifting until he could press his snout against Mikey’s soft fuzz. He nuzzled the little spider, reaching to pull them closer, churring and purring in a way that he hoped was still comforting despite his own turmoil.
‘You can stay as long as you want Mikey….i’d like that….a lot.’

As soon as I saw that @shellsweet was opening coms. for sketch covers I knew I had to ZOOM!
Not only was the entire commissioning experience perfect, but ShellSweet is an absolute joy to interact with! Professional, quick to respond/communicate, and extremely kind/sweet (as her name suggests)!
I requested for my and @languajix's GGTH!AU Donatello be drawn and it feels so surreal to have our boy on the cover of an actual TMNT comic! He looks amazing! I couldn't be more happy with the final product!
Shipping was so fast too? Pretty sure this got sent out over the weekend!! Everything was packaged so nicely and I can't wait to display the comic and the poster with the rest of my slowly growing turtle hoard!
Thank you again so much ShellSweet, i'm over the moon and I haven't stopped shaking since opening the package hahaa!

Don had been headed back to his nest, thoroughly tuckered out after helping with break-ins and officiating a wedding, but he kept passing by other campers with their arms full of...stuff. All kinds of stuff. Some of it painted a very familiar neon green. Oh. A large part of him wanted to ignore it, continue on his way to his secluded alcove to curl up and nap. The larger part of him was curious. So very curious. With a short resigned click Don gave in, following his hunch that the green painted belongings were originating from the counselor's now green painted cabin.
And oh was he right.
There were sale signs posted all over the log siding, flyers toting major discounts for anything splattered with the neon paint. Don couldn't help but snicker, his fellow campers were really taking the inch they were given and running miles with it. He approached the side of the cabin, already knowing that attempting to get in through the front door wasn't going to be comfortable. The window he had helped SpaceTour!Leon bust open was luckily still busted so Don made his way over, planning only to peek inside the DIY storefront, to lift himself up high enough to look over the window sill.
Don was surprised to see his orange clad big brother offering sales pitches to a few remaining campers idling their way in between the counselor's bunks. Though actually...if Don took a moment to think about it, he shouldn't be surprised. This had Mikey written all over it. How this alternate version of his brother was able to gather supplies, make props, do set up, and handle quick outfit changes in such short periods of time was absolutely beyond Don's comprehension. There would never be enough experiments or tests in any universe to help him fully understand the inner workings of a Michelangelo's brain. He had tried...a couple of times, it wasn't worth the headache.
Don pulled his eyes away from Mikey's expert bartering to take a look at the cabin. Leon had really done a number on the place, there were barely any surfaces not sprayed with the fluorescent lime paint. Don wondered how many other campers he'd managed to lure in with his plan, the collaboration was truly a work of art. As Don scanned the room he could make out little price tags taped or tied to a variety of the counselor's belongings, there were even a few floor boards labeled with sale stickers. He shook his head, a fond smile creasing the corners of his beak. There was even a checkout counter. Mikey had put so much thought into the set up, a true professional, not skimping out on any details.
Don watched as the few remaining customers made their way out of the cabin and Mikey returned to his station behind the counter, humming happily as he stowed away his payment. Don stretched up on his hind legs further, just enough for him to properly rest his chin on the window sill, he tapped against the wood frame with his knuckles, letting out a low rumble to get the older turtle's attention.

The Wedding of the Cat-ury: A Purr-fect Union of Klunk Hamato and Klunk Splinterson
Mikey @justalittleobsessed from Cabin 15 and Mike @languajix from Cabin 14's Klunks are getting married! We're not kitten.
They're sure this will be a wedding to remember fur-ever!
@tmnt-fandom-family-reunion
This was it, the wedding of the cat-ury. Today, two cats were coming together in holy matrimony. It would be a beautiful sight, something no one would ever forget. After all, it wasn’t everyday that two cats got married. That didn’t stop the excitement of the event– having been the talk of the camp. Robotic doves had been flying around with wonderfully crafted invitations throughout the past week advertising the union of cats from two cabins, and now the day had finally come.
The whole beach was decorated with great care and detail: no expense spared. Rows and rows of chairs were lined on either side of a long, orange carpet that led up to an altar. The chairs all had large orange bows on them, with each seat having a bag of cat treats on it.
A large arch ran over the altar, decorated with orange flowers and various orange cat toys, and hung around the beach were fairy lights that twinkle.
As the guests file in they can take in the beauty of the setup, and… maybe the over-the-top decorations for a little cat wedding. Whatever. The people who were putting on this wedding must be serious about the event. And who was anyone to ruin such a joyful occasion?
Overhead speakers are hooked up, playing what sounds like a cat cover to “Marry You” by Bruno Mars on repeat. It can only be described as utterly romantic, of course.
Among the guests to arrive were the the Reptile Conundrum boys @fairydragon, Last of Us AU Mikey, Leo, Donnie, and April @thehermitwitch, as well as a very confused Reni @likablemuffin to be witnesses to the event.
Some guests bring presents too: 7 Wonders Mikey and Don @hitwiththetmnt and RTOT April and Little Leo @misshowdoyoudo eagerly bring gifts– something of which the Klunks will be sure to be most appreciative of.
Once the last of the guests file in the music dies down, the beach going silent as everyone holds their breath. Suddenly, Greyscale Mikey @broken-slime-boi and Smokey @belleyells walk down the aisle throwing out orange flower petals from baskets, before going to seats in the first row, waiting for the main event.
Soon after a wedding song starts playing (also a cat cover) over the speakers.
There’s some shuffling, and then everyone turns towards the back of the aisle. There, a one-armed turtle in a big orange dress sets down a cat – presumably one of the Klunks – who’s in a wedding dress. He appears to be crying. Pulling out a laser pointer, he slowly leads his cat up to the altar, picking the cat back up when he gets there. Again everyone turns their attention to the back of the aisle, where the other Klunk in a similar wedding dress is being set down by a turtle in an orange tux with a green tie. This cat is also led up to the altar with a laser pointer and picked up like its counterpart.
It’s then that a large turtle steps up behind them with a bowtie on – Don @clawsandpaws-creativearchive from Cabin 15 – looking ready to officiate the wedding. Don clears his throat, and everyone turns to face him. “Rrrrr. Click. Snort.” He says in turtle speak, and Smokey stands up, addressing the crowd. “Hey says that Mike and Mikey will hold their Klunks for the wedding, so they don’t kiss too early.” Then sits back down. Don did not, in fact, say that. Most at the wedding don’t know turtle speak, though. Both Mike and Mikey hold their Klunks a little closer– Mike’s Klunk pawing at his dress and Mikey’s making little mewing sounds which he attempts to shush with little success and then just gives up in favor of giving her kisses.
Don starts speaking again, all in turtle speak. Almost immediately Mike starts to sob, to which Mikey hands him over a handkerchief seemingly ready for this very moment. The Maid of Honor dabs at his eyes then blows into the cloth dramatically, then repeating the process. At the same time the Best Man fans at his eyes to keep the tears out, loudly crying: “My baby! Oh my baby is getting married!” as well as various incoherent sounds.
Both Mike and Mikey seem inconsolable. The Klunks look on curiously in their wedding dresses at their owners.
As the speech goes on the dramatics increase: at one point Mike drops to his knees, sobbing harder, and Mikey yells: “This is the end of an era!” while shaking his head and starting to sob as well. Don keeps on speaking as if nothing is the matter.
(Anyone who does know turtle speak throughout this speech would know that Don only says “Meow” in various tones that make them sound like different words. It’s fairly impressive. Most people still do not understand.)
“Click. Snort. Click.” Don ends with. Smokey stands back up, once again addressing the audience as both Mike and Mikey seem to pull themselves together. “He says ‘You may now lick the bride.’”
Mike and Mikey take their Klunks and smash their faces together. The cats seem unsure about the matter, pawing at each other until they’re pulled away. “Klunks Hamato-Splinterson everyone!” Smokey announces, and both Michelangelos hold their cats up to the crowd, followed by uproarious cheers.
The two run down the aisle, while the guests continue to cheer, showing their cats in their little wedding dresses as they go past. Eventually they run off and away, leaving everyone else. As they all start to leave, a sign points towards the other side of the beach:
😻❤️Reception this way!❤️😻
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The reception is every bit as cheerful and bright as the wedding had been. Everything was decorated in orange again – orange flower centerpieces on tables with orange tablecloths, a dance floor that was orange and green, and ribbons tied around random items with orange ribbons on them.
Once the guests had found their seats and had started eating (a variety of orange foods and drinks, of course), Mike and Mikey called everyone’s attention.
They sat on a raised platform with their own table– their Klunks in-between them and playing with cat toys in a little pen for all to see. Mikey taps his knife on his “champagne” glass, standing up along with Mike as the attention is diverted to them.
“As Best Man,” He points to himself and his very fashionable outfit, “And as Maid of Honor,” He gestures to Mike, who does a little twirl in his dress, “We have a few words we’d like to say.” One of the Klunks below hacks up a hairball in the momentary silence. Mike and Mikey don’t seem to be too concerned on the matter. “Ever since the day I gave birth to me dear Klunk–”
Mike shakes his head. “–you did not–”
“–from my own body, I knew the day may come that she would finally decide to leave the nest.” Mikey sniffles, pulling out a handkerchief from his other pocket this time to dab at his own eyes. “She was always such an independent girl, but I had hoped I could keep her close for awhile longer, ya know? But then… then Klunk met Klunk.”
Mikey scratches behind the ears of the cats as Mike continues on, “We both saw how they clicked. It was obvious from the beginning there was something special there. Not only did they start to find happiness with each other, but I was able to find my long lost twin.”
“It’s crazy how that works, isn’t it?” Mikey picks back up, Mike nodding in agreement. “Not only did they come together, but they brought us together too. I couldn't be happier to call Mike my twin-in-law.”
"It only seemed right, that the most adorable, most gentle, most-" Mike sobs, picking up where he left off in the wedding "Special little girl in the whole wide world would find an almost as adorable, gentle, and special girl to get cat married to."
"Now hold on-"
Mike nudged Mikey with a grin, both of them smiling. “Now here we are, two months later. Mikey, I couldn’t be happier to call you my twin-in-law either. To all the days to come…” Mike holds up his glass.
“…and to all the memories we’ll make!” Mikey adds. “Cheers to Klunks Hamato-Splinterson!” They both finish at the end, taking long sips from glasses as everyone around them also shows their joy.
A few minutes later both Klunks are brought to the dancefloor, which soon gains a crowd around it for the married couple’s first dance. Setting them in the middle of the floor, both the Maid of Honor and the Best Man pull out cat toys as music starts to play.
With the start of the song, both boys move the cat toys around to the beat, making their cats follow in a slow dance. Although at first not clear, it’s easy to hear now that it is another cat cover to a song. As cats sing “Lover” by Taylor Swift, the kitties move around each other, although soon seem to forget the toys in lieu of playing with the other.
Soon enough everyone is invited to the dance floor, where a variety of cat cover songs plays well into the night.
“Thank you for coming!” Mike waves as everyone leaves, holding up his Klunk one last time.
Mikey does the same, although it's more clear on his Klunk how her dress is askew and a little tattered in some places from the newlyweds playing and dancing with each other. “And don't forget to thank all of our amazing counselors for footing the bill and offering to do clean up! This wouldn't have been possible without you!”
This truly has been a joyous occasion, and we thank everyone who came (and miss the ones who couldn't)!
You are approached by ICE!Donnie, Hunter, and Uncle Mike from cabin 14! They appear to be handing out modified walky-talkys for Prank week.
ICE!Donnie: "Although pranks are meant to be light hearted and fun for all, there is still a chance that things can get a bit dangerous. If you ever feel unsafe, just activate this device, and we'll head to your location straight away!"
After they are out of earshot, ICE!Donnie chuckles to himself.
ICE!Donnie: "Little do they know, after activation, the device actually hacks into their credit card account and transfers their money to mine!"
Uncle Mike: "Are you sure that actually counts as a prank?"
ICE!Donnie: "Anythings fair in fun and games!"
He's not sure he'll be able to turn it on without breaking it, but he appreciates the gesture!
Plus a fun lil extra doodle under the cut:
Don + Smokey got distracted very often during their photoshoot for the magazine, tickle fights ensue, oops!
Psst! Space tour Leon wants YOUR help with a sick prank! You want in?
(cabin 8)
Don's just a little too big to sneak into the cabin without attracting unwanted attention.
But he is the perfect size to give Leon a boost! He'll even keep watch! Just keep an ear out for a very deep growl!
