Rooftop Warriors || Shiloh, Zach

Despite having wanted to spend the entire day alone, she felt much more relaxed now that Zach was there. Her wolf that she could feel pacing inside of her, calmed down as well. Whatever tension had formed in her back and her shoulders dissipated. She couldn’t help but wonder if Zach was doing it on purpose of if she really was that naturally relaxed with him around. It was almost the same as with Thom. Almost. The blonde closed her eyes for a moment went she was pulled a bit closer, smiling for the first time all day when she felt his cheek against her own.
Thinking about it now after saying it seemed a million times easier. She’d broken up with Flynn after their fight, a fight that consisted of Shiloh doing what she needed to do and wanted to do for the pack. All she wanted was to be strong, protective, valued. She didn’t want to be the little pup when she wasn’t one. If Flynn couldn’t understand that, then it wasn’t her fault. Her heart was broken, but Shiloh wasn’t going to be one of the girls who cried for weeks and threw little fits. It happened. The future holds what’ll happen next.
"It ain’t, but I’ll get through it."
Shiloh turned her head to the side, looking at Zach. It wasn’t the ‘let me just smile at you’ look or a passing glance. She really looked at him. It was odd to her, how he wasn’t that much older than herself and yet between the look in his eyes, the dark circles, the overall aura that came off him seemed to age him. She worried about him, especially as of late the more she noticed Zach never stopping to just relax. “I don’t wanna talk about me. I just needed to hide away for a day and I’ll be good to go. But what’s goin’ on with you, Zach?” Shiloh moved one of her hands to take a hold of Zach’s that was near her side since his arm was over her shoulder. She gave it a reassuring squeeze as she looked back up at him. “Don’t hide from me, ain’t like I’m gonna tell the world.”
Zach took in a breath, prepared to answer when the impressive view finally registered and he closed his mouth. He let it out through his nostrils while taking in the land surrounding the mansion, trying to pick out specific scents from the breezes as they passed on by while enjoying the silence for the weight in gold that it was worth. The Beta didn't return the squeeze of hand but the gesture wasn't lost on him, and Zach reconsidered what was originally going to be the usual vague, generic answer he gave when people inquired as to how he was. He thought on it as little as possible because it didn't change from day to day. How was he? Unwell. Those days, though, who was doing any better? He didn't know. Maybe that was half the problem.
"Ain't hidin'. Clements don't hide for nothin', tellin' you now."
Somewhere under his beard his mouth twitched in a little smirk, murmuring out his answer playfully though he let a little bit of the tiredness he was starting to feel in his bones reach his tone. His beast enjoying the company of a packmate, Zach sighed out a breath he'd seemingly been holding forever and shook his head gently, keeping his eyes on the scenery before them.
"Goin' on with me? Nothin'. I don't know, sweetheart. Been some rough times, lately, gettin' rougher still. Reckon my spirits've taken a blow or two, sure."
