A Fairytale Ending | Elena Gilbert
Jeremy had left Mystic Falls, searching for his own life away from the sadness the town brought him. And after realising she was aging, Elena saw no point in sticking around herself. After many tearful goodbyes, she left the town in search of a life away from the supernatural.
The months rolled into years, and though she found a loving husband and built her own family, her heart always belonged to Mystic Falls and the people that were there. Elena Gilbert finally had what she had always wanted, to be a doctor and have a normal human life. She got her dream and, though it wasn’t everything she hoped it would be, it was fulfilling. She lived a long and happy life, and when her time came, she was a little old lady tucked up safe and warm in her bed, surrounded by her family.
As she closed her eyes for the final time, she was suddenly back in Mystic Falls, the old Mystic Falls. Her hands were no longer that of an old woman and as she strolled down the familiar street, her reflection caught her attention in one of the house windows - she was young again. She knew what was happening, and her stroll grew into a run as she rounded the street corner to her house. There on the front porch was everybody she had lost, waiting to greet her. “Mom? Dad?” She ran up the footpath straight into her parent’s arms. Aunt Jenna and John were the next to pull her into an embrace. “I can’t believe it, you’re all here? We’re finally together again!” They all came together in one huge embrace, “I missed you all so much.”
Finally she was at peace, finally she was home.
