Morrigan's Unstable Aetherflow
When I was putting together Morrigan's outfit for the Roundtable, I really liked the Warrick top Sosick made in regards to Jill from FFXVI. I also just loved the one glove look on her so much that I made it a part of her main glam and just general look. The thing is, I have yet to play FFXVI myself and learn why Jill has one glove but alas, Morri now has a one glove situation too!
As a Sharlayan scholar seeking to unravel the secret of how the world works, its flow and how it breathes, she would do anything to figure out its mysteries. As a result, she's tampered with the flow of aether in her body more than once, observing how the alteration of its movement can give different effects.
One of her experiments suddenly affected her negatively and caused her casting abilities to become incredibly unstable. She needed weapons and items specifically made for her to assist with stabilising her aetherflow or helping her cast magic without ache and pain. It was during this time she had to be rehabilitated and lectured sharply by her superiors for the lengths she'd go to research aetherflow in the body.
But their words did not deter her from her path and though she did not experiment herself any longer, she took time to re-learn how to cast magic again, almost taking an entire decade of dedication and training to understand how to use aether without causing it to burn her from the inside out due to her experimentation. Despite her long years of rehabiliation, casting umbral elements from her right hand without a staff can be both powerful and dangerous.
Jumbled notes under cut!
