@climb-every-day
During recovery from my ED I took a lot of time off from rock climbing (and working out entirely). Though climbing usually balanced me out and made me happy, I found that at this point I was doing it for the wrong reasons. Everything had become about losing weight and looking as “perfect” as possible. I realized that I was no longer enjoying myself when I climbed, and instead I criticized every little thing I did wrong, thinking that I weighed too much.
So, as difficult as it was to take a hiatus from exercise, I took one anyway. In this time I rekindled my love for climbing and was reminded why I did it in the first place. Climbing (and exercise in general) is about fostering self-confidence and celebrating what you can do. It is about creating self-love and appreciating your body. This is a lesson I won’t forget again any time soon.Â

The way to the top isn’t a clear path, sometimes you have to go a little sideways but that’s OK because it’s the journey that’s important.
Doing some classics at the close plateau in Rocklands. Girl on our mind and coal chamber, both 6B+
It’s kind of nice to try some new routes at different gyms. #climbing http://ift.tt/1JuNpZ8
This 14 year old girl is AMAZING!!
“Ashima Shiraishi (born April 3, 2001 in New York, NY) is an American rock climber. She is known for being one of the strongest young climbers - male or female - of all time. She started climbing in Central Park at age seven, and at Brooklyn Boulders.
The New York Times has called her a Bouldering Phenom. Outside Magazine has described her as a Young Crusher. At age 13 she became the first woman, and youngest (male/female), to climb a sport route with a difficulty grade of 9a+ (5.15a). Very few athletes in the world can climb at this level as both sport climbing grading systems and bouldering grading systems only have two additional, and more difficult, grades that Ashima has not climbed.”

From her Facebook page: “I am in 8th grade. I like to rock climb. I love sour candy and chocolate. Seriously though, I love chocolate.”
GO ASHIMA!!!
Out here puttin’ moves on harder stuff. The goal is to send V11 before next Halloween. “Off the Books” (V11). 📸 - @gabefik (at Clear Creek Canyon) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqyuuOohrbM/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ry1hbbw997l
Will on the ungradable Deliverance over at Stanage a couple of weeks ago. Such a great looking line, pretty polished but such a great looking line that it’s worth the pinging feet.
Got super close on it but I just couldn’t trust the dyno, I think when I tried it I was three days on so my skin was just awful. Either way, excuses included I need to get back on this sometime soon, finish it off before it becomes an Ice Rink.

Saturday it was puking snow and nasty, Sunday was supposed to be warm and sunny. So Sunday became the day. Hiked up to the Satellite Boulders to check out a potential winter project. “Fleshfest” - V10, a ultra-burly start that flows into a technical, and still powerful, finish. A tall and prominent arete overlooking the Satellites. Not even 10 minutes after completing the approach, temps dropped well below 30°, the wind started whipping through the boulders, and the predicted sun was nowhere to be seen. All the puffy jackets were needed, but their warmth does nothing for frozen feet. Still. Progress made. Figured out the opening sequences on Fleshfest, and raised the syke to come back again. Just hopefully when the weather is more cooperative. #atleastthegymiswarm #whoneedswarmfeetanyways #pretendingtobewarm #rockclimbing #climbing #bouldering #coloradobouldering #frontrange #climbingphotography #climbing_pictures_of_instagram #adventure #adventurephotography #explore #wanderlust #travel #travelohotography #mountainathlete #getoutside #tryhardandbleed #boulderdenim #scarpa #blackdiamondequipment #canon #canonphotography #canonusa 📸 @sierrarainewhite (at Satellite Boulders) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqsKKe4hNm_/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=51qkhnom37op
Enjoying some great times on Grand Capucin a few days ago. Lots of fun and good vibes with the young and talented @laraneumeier and @rogerschaeli. Congrats to Roger for sending the crux pitch on the Petit route, making it look easy, and to Lara for her fast progress in the route. And thanks to Stef and @arnaudpetit_climb for such a great route! / .
