self-expression   and   metropolis   ⸻

conner   kent   moves   to   metropolis   shortly   after   his   revival   after   living   for   a   summer   with   the   kent   family   at   the   age   of   seventeen   ⸺   and   begins   their   exploration   into   different   types   of   individuality   and   how   fashion   is   a   form   of   expression;   all   new   concepts   that   he's   finally   able   to   explore   outside   of   having   brands   as   superboy.   conner   begins   to   learn   to   sew,   begins   buying   books   and   studying   fashion   trends   throughout   the   years;   namely   alternative   genres   as   they   try   to   find   their   way   in   the   world.

gemworld   comes   and   goes   and   conner   throws   themselves   back   into   expression   in   the   only   way   they   do   ⸺   except   this   time   they   start   posting   online   how-tos   and   explanations   on   how   they   craft   and   build   their   own   outfits;   the   fundamentals   of   what   builds   an   outfit   and   how   to   save   money   and   still   express   themselves   fully.   they   gain   a   small   following   ⸺   you   can   find   them   at   local   flea   markets   and   clothing   swap   days   just   hanging   around.   it's   one   of   their   first   real   senses   of   community   and   something   they   still   cherish   to   this   day.   here's   a   thread   of   the   fashion   vibes   i   see   for   conner.

writing   styles:   conner   v.   superboy   ⸻

i   wanted   to   make   this   quick   little   post   on   how   i   differentiate   some   writing   styles   -   namely   the   way   i   differentiate   writing   kon   as   his   civilian   persona   "conner   kent"   versus   when   i'm   writing   them   as   superboy,   the   outward   superhero   persona.   this   is   just   a   brief   headcanon   on   what   to   expect   when   i'm   writing   them   and   why   i'm   even   bothering   to   write   this   in   the   first   place.

conner   kent.   whenever   conner   is   outside   of   the   super   element   and   doesn't   have   to   worry   about   a   reputation   or   their   self-imposed   honor   codes,   i   typically   result   to   a   more   brazen   and   outspoken   young   adult   who   really   doesn't   pull   punches   ⸺   this   is   kon   at   what   i   would   argue   is   their   most   genuine   and   who   i'd   also   argue   they   want   people   to   meet   first.   this   version   of   kon   swears   -   you   will   notice   it   the   most   when   i'm   writing,   as   i   believe   kon   only   ever   swears   when   they're   not   wearing   the   "s"   shield.   this   conner   is   more   unapologetic   ⸺   a   bit   more   melancholy   as   there's   no   cameras,   no   publicity,   and   nothing   but   themselves.   despite   also   having   lex   luthor   as   a   donor-father   figure,   he   does   not   lend   lex   luthor   the   same   "PR   grace"   that   he   would   lend   as   superboy.

superboy   /   kon-el.   though   this   was   kon's   first   and   only   persona   for   a   long   time   (until   about   their   death   in   my   canon),   this   is   no   longer   the   case.   through   years   of   trauma   and   experience,   superboy   has   become   more   polished   and   guarded   with   a   lot   of   what   he   does   and   says.   we   get   a   good   glimpse   of   how   he   percieves   his   past   through   hawk-girl   summer   and   my   own   portrayal,   but   superboy   is   a   symbol   that   kon   really   tries   to   mold   into   a   big   brother   that   younger   people   can   look   to,   whether   a   metahuman   or   not.   as   mentioned   in   the   "conner"   subsection,   superboy   does   not   swear.   he   does   not   try   to   at   all,   even   when   he's   solely   around   other   heroes   because   quite   frankly   he   swears   so   often   as   conner   it   would   be   incredibly   easy   to   slip   into   that   on   live   tv   and   call   a   supervillain   a   huge   fucking   dick,   and   then   he'd   be   right   back   at   square   one   in   hawai'i.   it   tends   to   slip   out   more   when   he's   around   other   superfam   members,   but   he   really   does   try   his   hardest.

usually   when   i   am   writing   these   two,   i   will   try   my   best   to   make   it   clear   by   using   "conner"   for   civilian   threads,   and   "kon"   or   "superboy"   for   cape-related   threads.   there   is   a   chance   i   will   also   be   using   kon   for   civilian   threads   as   i   do   believe   "conner"   and   "kon"   are   both   their   names   interchangeably,   but   i   will   try   to   refrain   unless   both   sides   of   kon   are   known.   i   really   do   like   having   the   “finding   out   x   is   a   hero”   written   out   in   threads   unless   it   has   been   already   established   in   comics   (re:   with   YJ   /   TT   /   most   of   the   batfam).

NOTE.   i   do   try   to   differentiate   between   the   two   in   an   obvious   way   because   i   do   have   trouble   reading   (adhd   and   dyslexia),   and   with   the   growth   and   amount   of   threads   i   now   have   on   this   blog,   i   will   guarantee   i   will   forget   unless   i   keep   up   to   this   process.   however,   if   clarification   is   needed,   just   dm   me.   i   could've   easily   fucked   up   too   lol.   also   i   probably   will   fuck   up   and   have   superboy   swear   when   i   say   he   doesn't   because   i   swear   really   bad   and   i   have   no   intentions   of   fixing   that   LOOOL

illness   and   the   healthcare   system   ⸻

fear   of   doctors.   being   poked   and   prodded   for   the   first   weeks   (if   not   a   whole   month)   of   your   life   tends   to   be   traumatic.   due   to   this,   conner   has   a   general   disdain   for   needles   (which   has   made   piercing   themselves   a   bit   difficult),   alongside   just   a   general   disdain   for   doctors   or   anyone   situated   within   a   hospital.   in   conner's   mind,   it   would   rather   keel   over   and   die   before   they   step   foot   in   another   sterile   environment.   it   freaks   them   out   too   much.

hypochondriac   tendencies.   despite   a   lack   of   desire   to   ever   step   foot   in   a   doctor's   office,   conner   will   overthink   everything   that   could   possibly   be   wrong   with   them   if   they   sneeze   wrong.   their   anatomy   of   being   an   amalgamation   of   people   alongside   surviving   numerous   dna-destructive   viruses   means   that   anything   could   go   wrong   when   it   comes   to   their   health   -   they   tend   to   overthink   every   little   sniffle   and   sneeze.

chronic   illness.   unsure   of   when   it   developed,   kon   has   noticed   that   he   has   developed   a   multitude   of   complications   that   came   with   the   revival   of   their   body   being   pulled   back   together.   joints   find   themselves   aching   more   than   normal,   and   kon   has   also   developed   a   couple   different   types   of   anemia   due   to   poor   self-care.

kon-el   and   physical   attributes   ⸻

clone   degeneracy   virus   and   recovery.   the   injection   of   the   clone   degeneracy   virus   as   from   agenda,   the   cure   from   roxy   leech,   and   the   follow-up   cure   via   spell   from   dr.   roquette   have   taken   a   massive   toll   on   his   body.   constant   manipulation   of   its   genetic   code   has   left   a   deficiency   of   proper   hormones   that   were   supposed   to   follow   a   normal   growing   boy.   testosterone   shots   are   administered   to   kon   once   a   week   in   order   to   keep   their   mood   regulated   and   their   body   healthy.

identity   and   sexuality.   kon's   identity   is   pretty   set.   they   are,   as   mentioned,   an   unlabeled   queer   person   in   both   sexuality   and   gender   identity.   though   kon's   reputation   labels   it   as   a   serial   dater,   this   has   slowed   down   in   recent   years   as   a   result   of   going   to   a   constant   therapist   to   work   through   their   teenage   years.   kon's   pronouns   are   he/they/it.

appearance   and   self-expression.   though   he   does   take   care   of   themselves,   kon   is   not   one   to   overly   care   about   looking   cleanshaven   or   'appropriate   for   society'.   they   usually   have   a   little   bit   of   facial   hair   on   their   chin,   and   they   keep   its   hair   curly   and   shaven   from   their   classic   90s   look.   conner   has   also   kept   his   classic   look   from   his   hawai'i   /   young   justice   era.   their   suit   is   more   'homemade   now',   wearing   ripped,   baggy   jeans   over   their   supersuit   and   more   spikes   on   their   jacket.

body   modifications.   kon's   piercings   are   all   done   by   himself.   with   the   use   of   a   red   sun,   kon   has   pierced   their   nose   (stud),   septum,   nose   bridge,   L.   eyebrow,   and   smiley.   they   still   only   have   one   earring   (their   clone   tag)   as   a   symbol   from   where   they   came   from.   kon   only   has   one   tattoo   -   the   symbols   of   the   six   young   justice   members   on   their   bicep.   i   also   want   to   add   in   that   conner   has   a   forked   tongue,   and   his   ears   are   pointed   due   to   my   own   interpretation   of   kryptonian   biology.
