I lived and worked in a lighthouse at a previous job. There was a thick line painted in a circle around the shack where the fog signal was kept. The line represented how close you could get to the fog signal without experiencing physical harm in the form of eardrums shattering or worse.
Even in the house it was LOUD. Probably the loudest thing I have ever experienced but at a normal, predictable interval. You would begin to time your sentences with little pauses with the rest of the lighthouse crew so you would talk like this while making your………..HORN…………. tea and then carry on talking because you knew when it would go off. It rattled the walls and the dishes in our cabinet.
At least one girl had died there. They kept photos of her everywhere “in honor of her sacrifice” because she had decided to take the winter watch alone and died in a storm where bounders the size of mini vans had been lifted out of the ocean and left scattered across the island, to say nothing of the ice chunks. People weren’t allowed to be alone on the watch after that.
One day a dead moose washed up on shore and it took my entire crew all day but we managed to rig up a line to hang it up to dry because we thought having a moose skeleton in the house would really spice the living room up a bit. It did. Weird shit happens when six of you are left alone, like ALONE ALONE, no cell reception, no wifi, just a radio to contact the real world and not a lot of reason to do that. People don’t go on lighthouse jobs if they want to stay connected, I’ve found.
That said Id do it all again, I really do treasure those days
you know you could’ve just said “no they don’t have wifi” and that would’ve answered the question
But then you wouldnt have known about the moose
I am simultaneously deliriously in love with the ending of Loki season 2 and absolutely loathe it
On one hand…Shakespearean tragedy at its finest, essentially circling back to Loki’s original Thor 2011 character arc by reversing it, and Loki has literally ascended to godhood. In the end, Loki’s ultimate selfless sacrifice was to sit upon the highest throne in the multiverse, and that to me is tragically ironically beautiful
On the other hand…Loki being alone makes me want to burn Marvel studios to the ground and do other unspeakable things
Best and worst ending of all time f u Eric Martin

Hiiii Spiderbit nation please look at these rare Spiderbit screenshots I'm pretty sure I took all of them myself and I don't know if I've ever actually posted them <3
At this point my coping mechanisms don't even make sense to me

25% of everything you need to know about spiderbit's relationship
Translation:
Cellbit: I don’t want to lie to my husband, I've already lied enough! My fiancé, that is. A good relationship is based on the truth. I don't want to base my marriage on lies. I could- man, I could sell my soul to LUCIFER, but I won't lie to Roier!"
(the other 75% is "If you look at my relationship with Roier from the start, if you know that we are going to get married, at no moment was there a single doubt of what would happen" and "I'll support you, 100 percent" and "I'd kill for you, but never you" / "I would gladly kill for him, if he wants")
me, watching Tubbo change the wording from "dear" to "dearest", fanning myself like I'm a Victorian lady about to faint over a romantic novel
Tubbo: I've never been asked out, EVER, in my entire life, in my 19-
[Realizes]
Tubbo: Oh NO… my first time getting asked out is fake and in Minecraft…
heres cellboier talkin to each other through their streams

i think the thing about qcellbit is that people see him as like a moral center, both of the narrative (as in to them he fulfills a protagonist hero role) and of the island, and while he's far more against the federation than most are, he's still not like. idk his morals really are not that different to roier's, in that they both care far more about the people they love than about any kind of moral standards; cellbit just likes mysteries and investigating which makes him seem like a morally good (as media often portrays them, this is not objective) detective archetype despite that a larger sense of morality not really factoring into his decisions. and also the federation is such an imposing, obvious evil, that anyone so ardently against them seems objectively morally good.
like, cellbit hates cucurucho because he wants to find out the island's mysteries, and cucurucho is hiding them, and cucurucho has directly tortured, kidnapped, and lied about basically all of his family members as well as other islanders, AND personally tortured him. it's more a relational kind of morality than anything to do with a larger moral compass-- cellbit does not think cucurucho is inherently morally evil in any real philosophical sense, aside from that (unwarranted) torture is obviously evil to him.
now, where he draws the line as to what is warranted violence and what isn't is pretty blurry, and often relies, again, on people he cares for or views as on his side against the federation. notice there's an "or" there and not an "and"-- cellbit loves jaiden and foolish despite what they've done for the federation (and to other islanders, in foolish's case), and continues to give them more information than he ought to, because he views them as morally good, even when they take actions he disapproves of. is this fairly hypocritical? yes, if you view morality through an objective lens. if you're like cellbit, though, and several other islanders, you view morality as something more malleable and more reliant on your personal relationships with people. jaiden is not evil, despite working for the federation, because cellbit loves her, and anyone he loves can't be evil; that is the more significant reason, to be honest, than his belief in her attempts at getting information from working with the federation.
cellbit himself is not evil, in his eyes, despite working for the federation, because he is doing it for a greater purpose-- one that will protect and possibly save the people he cares about. and his own safety and moral toll aren't really even a factor, as we saw with his attempted martyrdom.
cellbit doesn't really care how good anyone else thinks he is (unless he's having an argument over/with someone he cares about), because any punishment or judgment he receives for others' perceptions of his actions does not matter. it's about the eggs, it's about getting off the island, it's about figuring out what's happened to them. he wants people to trust him, obviously, because he cares about and trusts them in turn, or because he wants information, but at the end of the day, his soul is not at stake, and he will do whatever it takes to find out what's going on and save everyone else. he does not have some larger moral instincts guiding his actions, especially not anything black and white. he protects the people he cares about, and anything else is either situational or excusable.
@audoldends asked for a clip of the BBH/Cellbit/rpg convo and I can't post it in a reblog so here you all go!
