My Fall Staple
Hey it's Alexis, I'm so sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Fashion has still been on my mind. One thing in particular is my favorite go-to item for the Fall: black leather leggings. This item is my SAVIOR, if I want something comfortable but trendy I grab my BCBG Max Azria leather leggings and keep it moving.

Can we please just talk about Chanel for a hot second. It's been a couple of days, and sadly, fashion week (aka fashion month) is finally coming to a close -- unless you count Brazil -- and as cliché as it is for a true fashionista like myself to be obsessing over Chanel, I totally am. I mean, Lagerfeld. Peter Philips makeup. I mean...Lagerfeld! These "sentences" are deserving of grammatical errors because there's just no other words.
The more in tuned I get to be with fashion week and fashion in general, the more I realize that they really do save the best for last. Lagerfeld's collection was flawless, as always, catering to the classic Coco twill suits in beautifully vibrant pastel colors or the just as timeless, classic black and white. I can't get enough. I will wait all month for Lagerfeld's designs. A true show stopper as they say -- and speaking of show stoppers can we note my girl Cara Delevingne taking the first walk on the runway. On a total side note, I might be hated to be the first to admit I'm slightly upset she hasn't been on basically every runway this season. I hope she's not selling out to get that doe, though.
I digress, let's discuss Peter Philips. Since I'm all things beauty all the time, the first thing I'm trained to notice on the runway is the makeup and I. Am. Dying. This is everything a girl obsessed with the industry could ever ask for. The stunning eyes featured black flashes of lightening surrounding by an array of basically every color on the neon, pastel, and obviously bold color wheel. Just kill me now and send me to cosmetic heaven. Peter Philips, you steal my soul.
Oh, and don't blink because I'm pretty sure that was Miranda Kerr. I would not be upset if Orlando Bloom hopped up on the catwalk and just ripped her black quilted cutout dress right off and started handling that situation right then and there. Okay, well maybe it would be destroying Lagerfeld's, yet again, impeccable craftmanship, but all's fair in lust and fashion.

Here's How to Pack for Vacay
I love finding out new people who read my blog. So when Judith Garcia from Wheaton College, Facebook IMed about Closet Casualties, I was blown away! Judith asked if I had any packing tips for her romantic trip to South Africa with her boyfriend. Below is the email I sent to Judith:
Hey girl heyyyy,
I'm so excited for your trip with your man! These are a few pieces that I think would be great for you! The most important thing is packing pieces that you can mix and match, especially when it comes to your shoes!
So for me the hardest thing for me to not over pack are pants and skirts, I always want to bring them all but of course I can't :( The best way to resolve this issue is to pull out your favorite pairs pants, jeans and skirts then narrow them down to the top 7-10.
Once you get the pants/skirts down, pull out an assortment of long & short sleeve shirts that you can easily mix and match - throw a couple of tanks in there too for those really really hot days. Oh! Don't forget to throw in some cardigans/sweaters just in case you need to do some light layers and if the nights get cool.
You know how maxi dresses are must have staples for the summer time? Luckily, you're traveling during South Africa's summer season. Throw in a few maxi dresses, they're so light weight and perfect to walk around in. Also, they make the perfect outfit for those romantic meals I'm sure you'll be having :-)
The hardest part now are the shoes, as girls we want to pack them all but our luggage (and boyfriend) won't permit it. Grab your favorites and then be realistic in those choices, do you really need two pairs of black flats? No. If you have a pair of Toms- throw those in, when traveling you need great walking shoes. Cute sandals and strappy heels are definite but keep those down to a minimum of 2 each. Remember when choosing, which shoes to bring make sure each pair is versatile enough for different outfits. If a pair only works for one dress - don't bring them not worth losing that space in your bag.
Now I'm sure your closet is FILLED with treasures so don't feel like you need to go shopping for this trip. Pull everything out of your drawers and closet - seriously pull everything out. Take a look at what you have and start shopping there. As girls we tend to think we have "nothing" in our closets but in reality we really do! Improvise with what you have and try to match things that you've never put together before. Playing dress up before a trip can save you a lot of money from running in and out of stores.

I can't rave about Second Time Around enough! This consignment shop is all throughout New York City and the East Coast. Now y'all know how much I love my labels but my poor little wallet can't handle big label bucks, so here's the next best thing! Buying from designers is doable and Second Time Around makes it easy. They're stylists are amazing, they really help you find pieces that can upgrade your wardrobe and add growth to your style.
