Would you like to share your ideas for HTTYD3 redo? 🥺🥺🥺

it is far less fleshed out than my rewrite of the nine realms, as all I really have for it is for the light fury specifically.

well she has a name now. she's called Glare and she tries to be aloof and stoic and she's also kind of a dick for most of the movie, but toothless somehow manages to warm her heart with his goofy personality.

I think her story will be focused more on her own escape from grimmel rather than on her relationship with toothless, which instead serves to carry out her arc. also she has actual scars, but I just don't have any ideas. definitely a big and noticeable one somewhere on her body. maybe she has a docked lip from grimmel to make her scarier or smth?

...I have more on light fury biology for my rewrite au than the story. also they're called Ripplebreakers now.

I take back what I said years ago in my httyd3 video essay on youtube. It's not okay to like the third film, actually.

It's misogynistic, hetero-normative, and patriarchal. There's nothing subjective about that. It reinforces harmful gender norms and it objectifies women. Not just the light fury, it's across all of its female characters. I mean, Astrid was turned into a trad wife lmao.

The movie is problematic, and if you don't see that, you are part of the problem.

Wild conspiracy theory: Throk has been working for the Grimborns this whole time.

I sat bolt upright a few nights ago and wrote this. Stay with me, because I think I’m onto something here!

Defenders of the Wing

The Grimborns are able to sneak onto the island and steal the Eruptodon with no one seeing them carrying a huge-ass dragon to their ship. There's no way that they did that without some kind of inside help. Throk is following Mala around, but he is captain of the guard (or at least second-in-command to Mala). He would have been capable of incapacitating the guards, or ensuring those loyal to him were 'on guard' at the right time. "There should be guards here," says Mala when they discover the Great Protector is missing – we never find out where they went. Likely they just abandoned their post or went with the Grimborns, on Throk's command.

Throk is easily able to reach Hiccup once he's been taken by bounty hunters. The way he approaches Hiccup, menacingly and brandishing a knife, are NOT the actions of an ally! If Throk is working for the Grimborns, he's there to bring Hiccup straight to Viggo himself (perhaps Viggo didn't trust that any two-bit bounty hunter would be able to complete the job). The only reason this was foiled was because Krogan wasn't aware of Throk's loyalties, and stole Hiccup for himself.

Shell Shocked

Throk was assigned to guard Viggo on Defenders of the Wing Island.

When Viggo was taken off by Throk, his hands were manacled. But by the time of Ryker's attack, his hands have been freed. Why would Throk have freed his hands unless he was helping him?

Throk is told to keep Viggo locked down while the riders battle Ryker. But by the time they get back, Throk admits that he has slipped away. The only two explanations are that Throk is completely incompetent… or he deliberately released Viggo.

Ruffnut

All of his interactions where he's 'falling in love' with Ruffnut come across as insincere. Assuming Throk is still working for Viggo post-volcano, perhaps he has been told to get close to one of the dragon riders, in an effort to a) get more information about them, and/or b) separate someone who can be used as a hostage.

A man who is trying a bit too hard

In conclusion

I've always found Throk to be a bit boring, but he immediately becomes much more interesting if he's been a double agent this whole time! Perhaps he's the Defenders of the Wing equivalent of Johann – playing a long game to ingratiate himself into a community, waiting for the perfect moment to betray them for his own gain.

This is just a silly little idea! I doubt the writers intended any of his actions this way. But it's fun to think about!

Okay so I learned that the shows (rtte/rob) are NOT canon so im going to make two posts about this so this is post one

For me i feel like the ending of the 3rd movie didn't COMPLETELY come out of the blue because of Viggo. I always thought that Hiccup learned sacrificing things you care for from Viggo, because Viggo sacrificed HIS life to protect Hiccup, so in the 3rd movie Hiccup sacrificed his friendship with Toothless to protect him. So this kinda made sense of why he sent the dragons away. ( I STILL HATED THE ENDING)

BUT If the shows AREN'T canon the ending CAME out of nowhere. Like why in the 3rd movie did Hiccup give up his friendship with Toothles like yes he almost died, but for me it would have MADE WAY more sense if he did it in the second movie just hear me out. So in the second movie Hiccup SEES what an alpha dragon can do under the power of wrong people, he sees that whole dragons minds can be taken over by just a thought, Toothless almost KILLED him but we all know Stoick saves him, though this proves my point Hiccup saw his DAD DIE because of how powerful the alpha dragons could be. So why didn't Hiccup sacrifice his friendship with Toothless then? It would have made SO MUCH MORE SENSE

Anyways thats just my FIRST RANT about this I'll post my other rant most likely tomorrow

I have a question (not really a question but whatever) okay so this IS me hating on the 3rd movie

So i was talking to a person about how the hidden world in the 3rd httyd movie makes NO SENSE

Like yea sure Toothless took aplenty ALL the dragons down into the hidden world but like.. what about the speed stingers? Like yea they can run on water but what are they going to do? Jump in the hole and hope for the best? Like what?

Also what about the Great Protector? Did he just leave the island? Are the people just screwed if the volcano erupted?

And the Wingmaidens (idk if i spelt that right idc) did all the babys just leave?

The person brought up good points as well like if Toothless took ALL the dragons to the hidden world did he have to fly around to use his alpha powers? (the alpha powers thing only works in a range not ALL AROUND THE WORLD)

And yes I get it im a huge hater on the 3rd movie and I WILL be talking about it more this was only about the hidden world.

I'm still not over how the third httyd movie made the twins hate each other when Tuffnut literally told Snotlout to kill himself by jumping into cold water because he didn't want him to date Ruff in the 2nd movie.

And in Rtte, multiple episodes of the twins saying they'd always stick together and if they die they die together. Instead, Tuffnut calls Ruffnut a parasite and is rude to her in the opening scene.

Okay but like Hiccup clearly has no problem walking through the pouring rain, right? I mean:

Albeit he looks like a sad wet cat there and it probably isn’t fun for him, but I doubt this is the only time he’s gotten soaking wet from the rain.

Ergo, I believe he’s been out when it’s cold and rainy and gotten sick from it before; and perhaps he even had to take care of himself during that time, since like… Stoick may very well have been away searching for the nest, and no one else who sees Hiccup soaking wet in that scene the photo is from commented on it so like…

Just imagine an even younger and smaller Hiccup, sick after being out in the cold and rainy weather, with no one home to take care of him.

Yes thank you for pointing that out 😅. For the Dagur one that one was on me thats just how my brain spelt dagur(which is stupid its Dagur its spelt exactly like how it sounds lol) which is wrong. Also i had written this in my notes app at like 2 in the morningi was very tired. Though I did get the tags right.

Also the Stoick one was just a typo I I think for that one I hit the back button but it doesn't matter ヽ( ・∀・)ﾉ

(Also this is not an excuse but Im dyslexic I get my letters mixed up a lot)

Also please think next time instead of being rude you could just say it nicely there's no reason to be rude for some typos 🙂

The thought that Dagur would have killed Stoick so Hiccup and Dagur could be rulers together is an interesting thought

Also Dagur saying,

"Ever since I left Berk I couldn't stop thinking about you"

(Might have gotten the quote a little wrong) is also something to think about It's interesting and even after Dagur figures out that Hiccup and the others were dragon riders he says

"We could have been brothers together"

He still sees him as kinda like a "brother".

I just really like Dagur and Hiccups relationship.

Their relationship is WELL written to me its fascinating.

LIKE HE OFFERED TO KILL STOICK SO THEY COULD RULE TOGETHER? Dagur obviously cared deeply towards hiccup and thought they were on the same page.

He wanted to hunt down toothless TOGETHER so they could kill him.

Just their whole relationship is SO WE written. i love it so much its a problem😭
