For the bingo, "Enemy Turned Caretaker"? Up for Dagur, Viggo or Ryker.
Thank you so much for the request! I had an anon also request this prompt with Dagur or Viggo, and I had another anon request this with another character, so this was a popular one! I'm still planning on writing the one with the other character too, but this particular one was the perfect part 2 to my fic High Tide. :) Hope you enjoy! <3
High Tide, Part Two: Viggo by Emachinescat (AO3)
Hiccup wakes chained in the bottom of an oubliette, far beneath the earth's surface, entombed in walls of stone. Completely helpless, completely alone, easily the most desperate predicament he's ever been in. And then it gets worse. A Triple Cross AU in two parts.

Hiccup woke up feeling like a Gronkle had barreled into his chest, weaker than a newborn babe, his throat burning and his head pounding. But he felt warm and he rested on something soft.
He let out a groan that was more of a whimper with delusions of grandeur. Every part of his body ached, especially his chest. At his stirring, he heard motion on either side of him â the swish of fabric brushing against fabric on his right, and the shifting of a large body on his left, complete with frantic mother-hen dragon clucking and worried warbles. A bit farther away, the crackle of a small fire found Hiccup's ears.
Hiccup's eyes snapped open.
"T-Toothless?" he breathed, his voice more breath than sound. His best friend's anxious face swam into view, alive and anxious and practically vibrating with excitement. Above Toothless's head, inky star-flecked skies peered through a sparse canopy of trees.
Hiccup expected Toothless to descend on him like he usually did after a near-death experience, all wiggly body and slobbery tongue. But this time, Toothless stayed relatively calm, nuzzling Hiccup's cheek gently with his nose. Hiccup could only find the strength to raise his left hand to stroke his dragon's warm nose for a handful of seconds before it flopped back down, the muscles screaming like he'd just completed one of Astrid's brutal upper-body drills.
His brow furrowed; his hand and wrist had been meticulously bandaged with white linen. Toothless, magnificent dragon that he was, had no end of surprising hidden talents, but Hiccup seriously doubted wrapping bandages was one of them. Which meant he wasn't alone.
Hiccup couldn't remember much from his horrifying time in the oubliette â just a jumble of scattered memories and striking fear and numbing despair and a pervasive sense of doom. And water. A lot of water.
A voice rang out from his left, and Hiccup stiffened in horror.
"Awake at last, I see. How do you feel, my dear?"
Despite the oppressive weakness and fragility shrouding his body, Hiccup still managed to lever himself onto his elbows, and desperately tried to scuttle backwards, away from the man now moving into his line of sight.
"G-get 'way," Hiccup slurred. "G-get back." He tried to lift an arm to shield Toothless, but he wasn't strong enough even for that. He collapsed back onto the fur beneath him, completely spent.
Toothless rumbled worriedly and exchanged a concerned look with Viggo.
Hiccup paused, blinked. Surely he must be dreaming. Or dead. Suspended somewhere between Valhalla, with Toothless, and Helheim, with Viggo. Some freaky purgatory where his best friend and his greatest enemy suddenly had some kind of understanding? The dragon and the man-who-hunts-dragons, united at his bedside?
Or maybe he'd just lost his mind.
But when Viggo reached out to sweep Hiccup's damp hair from his forehead, his hand was warm and real and terrifyingly gentle. "Do you remember much?" he asked simply.
Hiccup shook his head, or tried to, but it just lolled to the right and wouldn't roll back. So he was stuck staring at Viggo and his weirdly tender expression instead of his beloved Night Fury. Just his luck.
