Midsommar

Recently got around to watching Midsommar.

Very uniquely shot with lots of subtlety in the background on how disturbing things actually are in a small Swedish community during their midsummer celebrations. I enjoyed the character transformation Dani had amongst all her tragedies and personal struggles, especially her relationship with Christian. All in all the plot goes as you expect it and leads you there without qualms. The highs are the background details when you pick up on them.

Pretty enjoyable thriller, it's disturbing and unnerving.

Ravenlok

Ravenlok is such a beautiful and whimsical adventure game. I really enjoyed the exploring and puzzles. It was also neat that all the tasks you ended up doing connected to the next one- so it didn't necessarily feel like busy work but paid off if you explored and interacted with things.

Overall a very unique and artistic looking game. The gameplay was just enough to make you feel like you grew to easily conquer over the big bad towards the end. Simple but still enjoyable.

This free visual novel is fantastic. Horror and sci-fi elements with the questions of love, life and self.

The whole story is explored through three playthroughs.

Thoughts on Garden Story

Save the grove as a sweet little sprout of a grape named Concord! Garden Story is very wholesome and precious. With a heartwarming message at the end of the journey.

The combat is delightful. You get to gather resources and upgrade weapons, tools, and simple building in the villages. The boss fights and dungeons are not overly stressful. They also present some light puzzles to the mix.

The overall experience is relaxing and warm.

Thoughts on Rakuen

Beautiful but bittersweet RPG maker game about a little boy coping in the hospital and going on an adventure in a fantasy world helping other patients along the way. Rakuen has cute art and lovely music. The music really adds to the emotional tone of the story. Sweet side characters add some levity during the boy's journey. All in all Rakuen is a wonderful game.

Wednesday

Super fun and quirky! I thoroughly enjoyed Wednesday and her adventures at Nevermore. The acting is fantastic! The micro-expressions! I can't stop gushing about all the micro-expressions in this show. Also the chemistry of Enid and Wednesday, they play so well off of each other. Looking forward to more from Wednesday and Nevermore!

I read Kiki's Delivery Service last night, it was such a delightful experience. It was one of those books I had to read through all in one sitting. Cozy and lovely. It makes the movie more special to me now than ever.

This show is so flippin' cute! I wish I knew about it sooner. I adore all the quirkiness and the strong friendships and bonds. Ah, I am a sucker for great writing about friendships. On top of that we have learning in such a fun way! it makes me happy to see Luz find where she fits in and grows more into herself.

Bubble People

This game leads you through a love story simply by popping away people and objects. It smartly leads you through what everything represents visually. I really enjoyed that you had to look at everything presented to you to thread the story together and be immersed. The game is free on steam and it was well worth the playthrough. Overall, it is simple, yet unique.

Plus, a endless mode which feels like popping bubble wrap with a splash of color. Love that.
