RAVENLOK (2023)
Ravenlok
For our anniversary we took the day off, and I was able to download one of my most anticipated games of the year, Ravenlok from Cococucumber. I played it in one sitting, and it's one of the cutest, funnest Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-glass inspired games I've played in a long time. It's beautifully colorful and an entirely unique pixel art style that I'm in love with. I wish I could play it again for the first time all over again.
Ravenlok
Ravenlok is such a beautiful and whimsical adventure game. I really enjoyed the exploring and puzzles. It was also neat that all the tasks you ended up doing connected to the next one- so it didn't necessarily feel like busy work but paid off if you explored and interacted with things.
Overall a very unique and artistic looking game. The gameplay was just enough to make you feel like you grew to easily conquer over the big bad towards the end. Simple but still enjoyable.

Ravenlok - Official Announce Trailer - Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022
Canada is a nice place for game development, because the government is very nice to game developers. Cococucumber from Toronto are being supported by the Canada Media Fund and the Ontario Media Development Corporation in creating their voxel hack-and-slash action-adventure. Riverbond, as the game is called, will offer about 150 hand-crafted levels for you to explore and fight your way through, alone or with up to 3 other friends.
I had the pleasure to play Riverbond at GDC, albeit shortly and in little chaotic jump-in fashion, but the game really does stand out visually. All the art has a loving style and even when voxels fly off of enemies it all stays very cute and approachable, kinda like LEGO Movie.
It’s worth watching in motion, so I’ll just say the game’s coming to PC and consoles later this year, and I’ll leave you with the trailer.
