For the people slyly writing comments in the tags instead of coming to me about it; yes I am well aware that many of these sources are inaccurate, flawed, or carry across cultural appropriation. However it would be remiss of me to throw away what I deem inappropriate, because my perceptions differ from others. I believe there is something to be learned from every book, even bad ones, and that reading them will help the individual to grow. I should have mentioned this in the post, it is already mentioned on the library page.
Hi, So I have done research and have come to the conclusion that I'm drawn to become a Solitary Electric Witch. But I was wondering, do you think it's necessary to do a "self initiation" into the craft and if so, how do I go about doing this?
Itās unnecessary. If you want to do so then thatās fine. Iām not entirely sure how one would go about it as Witchcraft is secular and if youāre not blending it with any religion I donāt know of any rituals or rites that would be secular. But no, itās not necessary to initiate yourself into witchcraft.
Sparrow
Witchcraft as a whole is *not* secular. It can be religious, a religion, and secular. It is a conglomerate of practices. Please stop saying this. It progates problems for secular witches, we are a unique genre of witchcraft that needs full recogition as a separate unit because of various things that i dont feel is appropriate to lecture on here.
That being said, initiation rites are not necessarily all religious. For example, initation into a club or a frat would be an example of a secular initiation (assuming that the club and frat are not religious).
Self initiation takes two meanings. The first is āstarting yourself in practiceā. Literally putting the key in the ignition, initiation. This has been done for a lot of practices.
The other meaning is āi am now in such and such a closed group without anyone from that group acknowledging meā and this is the one that is bad. It says that you dont care about the groups acknowledging you as one of their own and that you supercede them. Self dedication is the more meaning for this as a replacement term, which means that you are dedicated to joining the group but you havent yet done the initiation rites.
There are literally tons of initiation rites in witchcraft. Some open and some not. Some easy and some not. Like one is firing a bullet to the sky after a long hike and seeing if the moon turns red. Initiation requirements depend on practice. Both secular and religious.
My practice has an initiation requirement and rite. Just as a mechanism for me to push people from claiming to be practicing what I am practicing. C: not for really any other reason.
So your miles may vary.
I think I have to disagree with you on whether witchcraft is inherently secular or not but Iād like to discuss it! I think you make a few wonderful points, and I agree with you when you say that secular witchcraft is a very unique genre on its own.
But when something isnāt inherently religious, itās secular. My desk is secular. If I turn that desk into an altar, it ceases to become secular. It is now religious (please donāt think Iām talking down to you, because I know you already know what it means, but Iām just writing through my thought process. I follow your blog and I think you bring a fresh viewpoint to the table and I donāt mean this to sound condescending in any way, but I know text cannot portray tone well).
But like I think of witchcraft as a circle. A bunch of people could stand around a circle and itās still just a circle. Itās a very unique circle, and you can do a bunch of activities and games around it. But then you have Christian prayer circles and Wiccan sacred space circles, etc. Itās now a religious circle, but it doesnāt mean the circle isnāt inherently secular, even if someone worships the circle. Then, for them and only them, it ceases to be a secular activity/thing (like those who find religion in witchcraft).
Likeā¦the way I understand it is that if something is inherently religious, you are always taking it out of its religious context to become secular (such as celebrating Christmas when you arenāt Christian). You can take it out of the context, but itās still a religious holiday. And if itās inherently secular, you can add religion to it (+Wicca, +spirituality, +Christianity), but it still doesnāt make witchcraft itself a religious activity.Ā
I hope Iām explaining what I mean sufficiently. Iād like to know your thoughts, though.
Letās address your two examples:
1) The Desk is Secular, The Desk is Religious.
The problem lies in the fact that a Desk in your example is not like Witchcraft. Witchcraft has had a really wobbly interesting history when it comes to religious and religion involved in it. Primarily that Witchcraft has almost always been either a religion or a religious context. It was not, based on pretty much a bunch of examples of historical and folk witchcraft, like the Desk, where it wasĀ āturned religiousā orĀ āturned to religionā and now has becomeĀ āback to itās normal state.ā That just isnāt the case.
I have demanded sources from people who claim that witchcraft has *always* been secular. Specifically demanded that they provide evidence of witchcraft practices that existed⦠err coexisted with religious witchcraft in the previous forms of witchcraft outside of the last 5 years (when the term became popularized).
It was always viewed as a religious or religion depending on time.* So how did we get to secularism in witchcraft? Well, my argument for why my practice is secular is because of the adaptability of witchcraft over time. There is a long history of adaption in witchcraft. Be it different styles of Witchcraft (Slavic verses Italian verses Anglo-Saxon) to current Modern practices (Eclectic Paganism verses Reconstruction paganism verses Wicca). I adapted what I understood as witchcraft and created my own practice which was of a non-religious type.
Adaption covers the issue of how we get to secular being a UNIQUE genre of witchcraft, and not the core, base, orĀ āgenericā form of witchcraft. Like any other UNIQUE genre of witchcraft, such as Italian Witchcraft, Anglo-Saxon Witchcraft, Slavic Witchcraft, Hedge Witchcraft, Green Witchcraft, etc etc. It is a Customized version of Witchcraft that fits particular needs. It follows the suit of humans changing things to fit their needs.Ā
Otherwise weād be doing the same form of witchcraft consistently thorough out.**
So the āDeskā youāre talking about, actually was an altar. Then it became the inspiration for a desk. Not the other way around.Ā
2) āJust add a Spoonful of Religionā Makes Secularism a Mockery.
So with the concept thatĀ āWitchcraft is secularā comes some rather nasty problematic issues (as I mentioned I didnāt want to lecture, but since youāve opened the floor). The most important one is that youāre basically how do I put itā¦Ā
Let me put it first this way:
Religious Witches, especially in the New Age section, for years and years and years, have said that Witchcraft is a Religion. Have said that you cannot be a Witch and be someone who is Secular. Period. You just cannot practice secularly. That if you practice secularly, you are a horrible person who does not understand how the Universe works.Ā
By sayingĀ āWitchcraft is Secularā, youāre literally using the exact same thought processes that these Religious Witches have, who specifically have gone out of their way to mock, ridicule, and otherwise hate on secular witches for adapting Witchcraft to themselves. Why would you want to duplicate the same erasive behavior? Youāre not helping the cause. Youāre actually denying people their right to their core religious and religion practices.Ā
But more importantly, youāreĀ āhidingā their attacks against secular witches. What I mean by that, is youāre basically ignoring the fact that this was even a denied thing. Like youāre not even talking about the fact that Secular Witches TO THIS DAY get hate mail, get all kind of bad shit just for being Secular. Like you pick up a new age book today, and you will find the same shit in there thatās been in there for a while. Secularism is NEW in witchcraft. You canāt pretend like it was just always there, always accepted. Thatās not the case. And quite frankly, itās offensive.Ā
But even moreā¦Ā
You rip away the need for Secular Witch or secular witchcraft to even be a recognized as a genre of witchcraft. āSecular Witches have always been just plain olā Witches.ā Thereās a really big reason why Secular Witch is an important term. And it comes at the face of wide spread anti-secularism in witchcraft feelings. People see it asĀ āstealing peopleās practicesā orĀ ādabbling.ā You would not believe the amount of shit that I have had to deal with SINCE calling myself a non-religious witch, and even more so SINCE calling myself a secular witch.Ā
Likewise, I am really tired of secular witchcraft being theĀ ādefaultā orĀ āthe coreā of witchcraft as a whole. All Secular Witches are Individualistic. All Secular Witches are DIY witches. All secular Witches are Creators of their own practice. Secular Witchcraft are notĀ āgenericā forms of witchcraft. All secular Witches, even within the UNIQUE Secular Witchcraft genre are different. By saying that Secular Witchcraft is the core, or the basic, or the generic version of witchcraft, you stop explaining how individualistic we are. Itās almost like youāre calling secular witches, for lack of a better term, boring.Ā
AndĀ ā+Wiccaā (which donāt even get me started on this because this really pissed me off, so please keep in mind Iām trying not to be supes angry right now) orĀ ā+Paganismā is the extra spice that makes other witchcraft practicesĀ āspecial.āĀ
Secular Witches are NOT the reason why people can practice different religions and different religious structures. Why are you even bringing that up? Religious witches have been different for hundreds of years before secular witchcraft was even on the table. Like they have literally got the longest history of being different from each other. Christian witches, for example, have been there for the longest fucking time.
It feels like an excuse every time someone brings up thisĀ āadding a spoonful of religionā to witchcraft. An excuse to go do whatever religion they wanna do. Instead of saying yo, I made this religion. Like Gardner did, with Wicca. Like Why are you using Secular Witchcraft to talk about religious witchcraft? At all. Like why?
And finally: Ā āAdding Religion is Easy, just follow the steps!ā
Adding religion or taking religion out, is fundamentally destructive to a tradition. I know, I broke my practice from a religious witchcraft standpoint. Itās neither simple, nor easy, nor gentle, nor cute. It is, in my opinion, really fucking hard to do. I am constantly questioning, looking at things, did I accidentally add a religious flavor to my practice.
Because any religious addition, BREAKS secularism. They are complete, total, opposites. You cannotĀ āaddā religion to secularism and notĀ ābreak somethingā fundamental along the way. Itās not a simple procedure. Or a check list. Or something like that.
Like your desk for instance. Changing it to a religious context, means a paradigm shift in how you associate that item in your mind. Likewise in also may include a shift in your behavior. maybe you no longer put things on that altar that would have been fine on that desk. Maybe you only go to the altar on certain days of the week. Maybe you cover that altar with some kind of fabric or draping that you wouldnāt put on a regular desk. Maybe you take that altar outside and have it ācharge by moonlightā which you would never do for a desk. You start changing.
Itās calledĀ āraising the mundane to sacredā which is pretty common for a lot of religions who use tools and other mechanism in their practice. Ā Likewise, taking something sacred and bringing it down to the mundane is called āProfaning the Sacrality.ā (these arenāt the technical phrases for it, Iām putting it in my words because I am forgetful of what the actual terminology is)
You fundamentally break something crossing those boundaries. Be it your view on that item, or the item itself (such as digging a pentacle in the center of your altar for religious purposes). So itās really important not to⦠boohoo the paradigm shift.
Oh look at this communion chalice, hohoho itās just a cup. Hohoho just like tea is just hot leaf water, hohoho. Like this is a really disrespectful way of doing things when it comes to profaning things.Ā
Plus you donāt even need to profane something. Some symbol you borrowed out from some other sources that has a key place in a religion. Or some tool or some whatever. You can literally start from a secular base and build something without harkening back to profaning.
So basically, no Witchcraft isnāt secular. Witchcraft is a lot of things because of itās long history of adapting to peopleās needs and wants - hence why it can include so many things. Thatās why Witchcults like Wicca whose religion status is paramount to be recognized as a TOTAL religion into itself, and religious witches who view their witchcraft as both a religious and spiritual thing but not totally a religion, and secular witches all can play under the same sandbox label as witchcraft.
But itās also important to recognize that each one (including that middle part right there, which I donāt think I perfectly exemplified here) has their own unique genres and unique structures underneath and not all are the exact same. Have the exact same mechanisms, paradigms, history, and struggles.Ā
I hope this made some type of sense beyond me being a little aggressive about Wicca, which I really hate having to defend Wicca. Iām just saying. I really do. Thatās what got me the most annoyed. LOL.Ā
*The time that it was not, it was viewed as the Monster Woman mechanism used to make women and other genders who identify with the witch theme as horrible evils. Thus it was not necessarily a good example of your point. :P Even though I might identify with the Monster Woman stereotype.
** Weāll not get into this discussion about how some Trad Witchcraft people say that they are the only ones to properly practice witchcraft and yadda yadda yadda because Iām not about that life tbh.Ā
I can see where youāre coming from, and I by no way meant to offend, so I hope you know that. Itās just a concept that I havenāt seen before, and I want to discuss it; thatās all. If I say anything that offends you, please understand that I do so from a place of ignorance and lack of research, as Iām only just getting back into this from what I had to āunlearnā as a young adult. When I see something I donāt understand or agree with, I prefer to discuss it over with the person who has the opposing view, because itās the only way to really understand what they are trying to say.
First off, I didnāt mean it as aĀ āspoonful of religion,ā though I definitely see that it came out like that. I do understand that there are religions that are so intertwined with witchcraft that it is impossible (or at the very least extremely difficult) to separate the two.Ā
However, what about some forms of folk magic (though I know there are religious ties to some folk magic), old wivesā tales, and medicine men/women? At one point the old woman who lived by herself may not have called herself a witch, but knowing too much about the plants around her would give her the name by others in the town. The connection between plants and herbal medicine by have started religiously but it was by no means mutually exclusive.Ā
Thereās always the wholeĀ āwitchcraft is conflated with the devilā stuff, too, which spout a ton of misinformation that might be covering up any secular magic users.
I still disagree that witchcraft isnāt secular by itself, though maybe not inherently so; it is a more complex subject than I thought before. Although many religions are combined with witchcraft in a way that there is no separating it and maybe secular magic is new, but thatās what itās changing into. Words change and witchcraft adapts and Iām thinking that itās simply the majority agreed upon definition now. Maybe I used the wrong examples, but thatās how I always thought of witchcraft.Ā
Iām definitely not saying itās easy and even Iāve seen how frowned upon it is within the different communities (but I also see that changing). I donāt mean to erase your experiences or hardships. Youāve definitely given me a bit to think about on the subject and Iāll do my research before I come up with an opinion of my own.
Eclectic and Secular witches often run the same gauntlet of hate, with others accusing them of stealing and cherry picking. I donāt agree that anyone calling witchcraft a secular practice is erasing the need for a secular genre; itās actually had the opposite effect as far as I have seen within the community on Tumblr as well as what I have seen in my community back home.
As a whole, though, I do see your frustration and will try to keep it in mind as I continue to research the topic for myself.Ā
Hihi, itās grumpy lumpy sec. :D
First, I can talk about something being offensive without thinking that you are doing any offense to me. Thatās basically what I was trying to cover. Most of my yous in this post were not personal yous, they were general yous. ;_; confusing none the less. Sorry about that.
Second, Folk magic, Cunning Folk Magic, and Witchcraft share an interesting history when it comes to different thing. Folk magic was/is not justĀ āmedicine womanā stereotypes, where in the woman just did herbal magic. What youāre thinking about is more under the line of Phramaka/ Pharmakeia which actually did have a religious background on it (specifically with Greek Paganism).Ā
Folk magic includes a lot of different practices both religious and non-religious - but I am extremely hesitant to call all of Folk Magic Witchcraft. For two reasons. But to be really honest with you, Iām having a hard time actually thinking of a few examples of truly secularized magic in the folk magic spectrum. What I mean by that, is if youāre going to compare Secular Witchcraft to say forms of Folk Magic that look non-religious, then you must also bring forth examples that it was looked at, in context, as a secular form of practicing that. Though it definitely could be done, I just cannot come up with good examples right now. like the example thatās coming to mind is animism which is a belief that I personally quasi-have. Animism can exist outside of religious structures, but it requires an explanation for why that is out, ie what itās source. And almost every time I come to this example I see all of the ways it is animistic because of a religious engagement/context. Ie that we canāt pull one technique out of context we have to pull the entire chunk and discuss it as a large whole otherwise you miss parts of the religion.Ā
The first reason, is that Folk Magic is important to be separated from Witchcraft because people practicing this folk magic might have felt insulted by someone referring to their practice as witchcraft. it might also have been dangerous. Likewise I think it was near or around the time of Gardner where there was this movement to kind of bring more High Magick standards to Witchcraft (and thus developed a High Magick Religion, wicca. I think I can argue that). So Witchcraft hasnāt always been associated with purely folk magic and vice versa. Folk magic a lot of times was associated withĀ ābenignā magic, where as witchcraft was associated more withĀ āmalignā magic. Hence me referring to the Monster Woman discussion, which is why I said it wouldnāt help your argument so much. :D
The Second reason is that Folk Magic, as a term, is extremely broad compared to Witchcraft. What I mean by that is Folk magic includes a hell of a lot of places and practices that are not labeled Witchcraft (for a variety of reasons). Like Hoodoo, for example, is a type of Folk Magic (though I wouldnāt argue it is SOLELY Folk magic, Iām just exemplifying a commonly looked at practice). And while Hoodoo does share some of the characteristics of other forms of Witchcraft, because it took on various things as it was converted by Slaves when they were sold in the US, that doesnāt mean Hoodoo is witchcraft and that itās appropriate to call it Witchcraft.
Basically, just because itās magic or a magical form, doesnāt mean itās witchcraft.Ā
Ā Cunning Folk Magic likewise has a very religious history. There is a lot of religions in Cunning Folk practices, some pagan, and some christian. I donāt know if I could find any flavor of Cunning Folk that could be secularized. Thereās a lot of cunning folk practices that are very, very religious. Cunning Folk practices are pretty important to discuss when we talk about witchcraft becauseā¦.
Witchcraft and Cunning Folk practices actually share much of the same practices when it comes to discussions about Europe and European styles of Witchcraft. Thereās often times where there is no difference between Cunning Folk practices and Witchcraft practices. Thatās not necessarily the case these days, but if you look into certain areas at certain times, itās almost like they are very mingled together.Ā
So that doesnāt really help your argument much if you have a very religious or a mostly religious thing that shares a commonality with Witchcraft. ;3;
As for theĀ āWitchcraft = the Devilā bit, actually thereās a lot of historical āSatanicā or devil worship presence in both Witchcraft and Folk magic alike. Like some people view the Devil as a Liminal God or a Crooked God (Liminal meaningĀ āboundary holderā, Crooked meaningĀ ānot giving the straight answer, not giving an answer that is easyā), and thatās still a view that people have to this day. Likewise, some people actually straight up (if you believe some of their untortured testimony which a lot of Cunning Folk practices point at) said that the reason they work with the Devil is because they are rebelling against God.Ā
The Devil has a place in Folk magic, Cunning Folk Magic, and Witchcraft. And it may or may not come from a religious sense. Itās the same with Folk Saints or Folk Spirits. You canāt ignore some for the sake of the other.Ā
So I donāt want you to think that Witchcraft and the Devil have always had this terrible connection, there definitely is something to say when people (meaning outsiders who do not practice anything related to witchcraft) say that Witchcraft is a Devil Worshipping practice and sweeps pagans, satanists, and secularists all under the same label. But we shouldnāt let what outsiders think dictate how we understand Witchcraft to be formed or classified.Ā
So whether or not itāsĀ āhidingā secular witchcraft in that spectrum in the past, I cannot say. That would require us to actually a) get the people back, b) have a conversation with them about whether or not they are actually practicing witchcraft which the majority of them I would argue is not the case at all, and c) then have a discussion about is there some level of religion or religious flavor or not. Was it done without a religion in mind or a religious context.Ā
Frankly, I donāt like saying anyone from the Witch Hunts are witches. I know thatās not the most popular response, but I just donāt like it.Ā
I actually agree that Witchcraft is definitely changing in terminology when it comes to both peopleās conversation and itās structure. Thatās why I talked about adaptation so much. I even wrote another post about it, because I really like this concept a lot. ;_; lol. I think the conversation should definitely include secular Witchcraft, Especially if weāre not trying to say that ALL forms of Witchcraft are secular, or are some howĀ ābased in secularism.āĀ
But I think we can achieve that through wording witchcraft as a label that includes religions, religious practices, and secular practices rather than saying that Witchcraft is <one thing> and one thing only. That in of itself is a change to the idea of Witchcraft because Witchcraft evolves because people evolve.
I mean how many people are peeing on biscuits and feeding them to the Familiar of the Witch who cursed them to rebound the spell? Lol. How many people have chimneys that they stuff their extra clothes around so that the Familiar when it comes down the chimney, that itāll attack the clothes because it has the scent of the human on it.Ā
Verses how many people are using their Swipe keyboards to make sigils? Doing Pop culture witchcraft? Talking to spirits and telling them they are drunk and you need to go home. (Spirit u drunk, itās me. :D Iām doing that).Ā
Like Witchcraft totally evolves, but we should not remove the original things that had a presence there, in favor of the new thing. We should just include the new thing. Thatās just my argument here.
Now as for this bit here:
ā . I donāt agree that anyone calling witchcraft a secular practice is erasing the need for a secular genre; itās actually had the opposite effect as far as I have seen within the community on Tumblr as well as what I have seen in my community back home. ā
What Iām saying here is two things. The first is that if we say that Witchcraft by default is secular, then thereās no reason to even have a label of Witchcraft. Because by default, every witch is a secular witch. It becomes a redundant statement to say secular witch. Because Witch should be enough to explain you at that point. But itās not. And thatās what Iām saying by erasing.Ā
The second, is what Iāve seen on tumblr is a variety of things as the outcome of using Witchcraft is Secular. So the most important one, is that people do not understand that secular means ānon-religious.ā Instead they associate it with Atheism. Ā So youāll find people calling themselves secular pagans [which is a paradox of the highest order as paganism is a religious labeling]. Likewise youāll see this conversation about how there is no need to have Gods in witchcraft because secular witchcraft exist. Or that people donāt understand why someone would be in a religion and practicing witchcraft. Or like you said earlier (religious witchcraft = secular witchcraft + a spoonful of whatever religion weāre discussing).Ā
But the more insidious problem, is that people are actually doing to Religious Witches what religious witches did to secular witches. I had a really good friend on here (I still miss you greenmystic, I hope youāre doing okay). And I watched them talk about their religion, their witchcraft, the same thing, and people sent them anons after anons after anons (i pretty much replied to every single one of them myself) about how there is no way that their Religion is witchcraft because witchcraft is secular. Because witchcraft canāt be a religion unto itself. Because itās secular.
They pushed this person off the site completely. And I know they do it a lot on this site and that wasnāt just a singular isolated thing. Iāve seen it happen a couple times. And from religious witches who are not secular. LOL. What the fuck.Ā
The acceptance of Secular Witchcraft came at the cost of denying other people their practices. And I just donāt think thatās okay. I just donāt. I think itās rude, I think itās unfair, and I think itās well⦠petty and a knee jerk reaction to anyone who saidĀ āWitchcraft is a Religion.ā Like we can be mad about people saying thatĀ āWitchcraft is a religionā/āWItchcraft is religiousā but we canāt be mad about āWitchcraft is secularā? When itās doing the same thing? Doing the same problem? Causing pain in the community?Ā
I think there is an appropriate way to recognize and appreciate secular witchcraft (which is what youāre getting at right?) and an inappropriate way. And I think tumblr as a whole doesnāt know which is witch⦠I mean which. :P
Secular Witchcraft is a very small community (compared to the entire world of witchcraft). Ā And like other small communities, you cannot raise it up by using it as a weapon against others. Maybe Iām the only one who feels this way, but I really donāt like the weaponizing of Secular Witches to break people who say that all forms of witchcraft is religious (for several reasons, but this post is long enough). I think there needs to be more conversation on it than that. I think respecting a community is not using that community to hurt people. Again this just could be me.Ā
But before I finish I just want to say⦠there are some other problems are that Secular Witches are actually appropriating things from other religions and taking them out of context. And itās not cool beans. I just had a convo about that on my blog actually. And how to manage and deal with that. I can link if youād like. So we can cause pain, ourselves, to the community. Itās not just people using secular witchcraft as a weapon, we literally can be the cause of pain our ownselves. And we need to own that and fix it.
You know? And yes, that cherry picking thing is like the literal most annoying accusation of my life.
OF MY LIFE.
I do associate kind of with the eclectic forms of witchcraft. Like as a whole, I kind of view secularism and eclecticism in very similar situations. Ā
I hope that made sense. ;3;

types of witchcraft
When Iām at home in my little cottage, Iām a cottage witch.Ā
In the kitchen, Iām a kitchen witch.
If itās storming, Iām a storm witch.
And if Iām at the beach, Iām a sea witch.
But at the day job, Iām rather a techno witch.
Hanging out with Hermes, I might be a bit of a Hellenic witch.
There are times in the garden when Iām a green witch.
And times at work when Iām a secret witch.
Because life has many facets.
But I seem to always be a witch.Ā
If you're in a relationship with an abusive partner, you're not alone ā this author can relate, as can countless other survivors, who make an average of seven attempts before leaving for good. You should feel safe, not just if you want to leave, but right now.
In addition to whatās mentioned in this link, we have some info to help folks make a plan to stay safe when leaving an abusive relationship, and when they canāt leave just yet: The Scarleteen Safety Plan
Seriously, Iāve only been able to skim this article so far, but I definitely plan on reading the whole thing later
If youāre being abused by your partner, and youāre reading this right now, then you have awe-inspiring strength.
Youāre suffering, but you have the courage to seek out ideas on how to take care of yourself.
Iām guessing you havenāt come across many tips like these. When I was being abused, the only advice I found was about how to leave an abusive partner, or how to heal after youāve left.
In this society we sometimes talk about abuse victims being strong afterĀ they leave, but frame them as weak before hand. I think that is so wrong. Living in an abusive relationship takes a strength that most people cannot even comprehend. youāre not weak because you stay. there are a million reasons why we stay because, frankly, abusers actively work to keep their victims trapped.Ā
So know that if youāre in an abusive relationship right now as you read this, I think you are strong as fuck, and I am rooting hard as hell for you.Ā
Honestly, if people feel even a little inclined to reblog this, I would appreciate it. I am not trying to guilt anyone, if you donāt reblog I wonāt think youāre a horrible person, thatās totally your prerogative⦠But if these words can help even just one current victim of domestic violence⦠I would be so happy.Ā
So many people canāt leave. So many. Please be safe.

This post is going to rushed but Iām still shaking and itās hard to type but I NEED people to know this
My mom just took my dog to the vet She(my dog) was(still is?) having a seizure
Last month we took my dog to the vet and they told us she had developed diabetes, they told us it was caused by the food she was eating, purina beneful. They told us that there have been many many many reports of Beneful has been causing diabetes, seizures, and even death in dogs.
We had no idea
We immediately switched her food and put her on a special diet plan for her diabetes, unfortunately the effects were already permeate.
Today at 11:20 my mom woke me up crying, I helped her carry my dog to the car (while she was still having a seizure) and watched her drive away red faced and still crying.
Please please PLEASE if you are feeding your pets Purina beneful PLEASE switch their food ASAP Beneful is poising dogs and I donāt want anyone else to experience what I just did Also if you could please help me signal boost this so everyone can know
This would explain why my dog has seizures nowā¦fucking hell
Reblog and save lives of dogs
found out purina was the reason my dog winston had been having seizures and puking. please donāt feed your dog purina.
reblog even if you donāt own a dog or even if youāre notĀ āa dog personā because I canāt even imagine how horribly depressed I would be if this happened to my dog
