"Well, if [Mount Olympus] is burning, baby, let it burn, I say!"
!!!! WHAT!!! WHAT! HOLY FUCK! Is my crack theory that Dionysus invited Prometheus to his party because Dionysus admired him TRUE?!
Does this mean that Dionysus resents his family??? That Dionysus avoids his problems??? That Dionysus is glad that Prometheus is fucking shit up???
Does this mean that Dionysus admires Prometheus for going apeshit and being an unstoppable force that is confronting the family Dionysus never dared to???
(https://www.youtube.com/shorts/uINdmAojlPI and yes, I got this screenshot from a YouTube short. You know, like a heathen.)
By the way Hypnos in both Hades games is very much metaphorically a wheelchair user. He floats on his blanket all the time we have literally never seen him walk let alone stand. On top of that now hes got his little hammock with a pillow they could not make it more obvious. It also ties in with his whole “i try my best but im naturally tired and just cant do some things so everyone thinks im lazy but this is just who i am” schtick. Hypnos is a wheelchair user through ang through i will not only die on this hill but kill everyone in my 50 meter radius with me airport backpack bomber style thank you
Shipping DrunkFlame so I could imagine Dionysus encouraging Prometheus to pause his “I must suffer so others thrive” crap, and Dionysus feeding our favourite Titan yummy wine and delicacies to pamper him: 😍😍😍😍😍
I miss DrunkFlame… I find myself drawn to it time to time. Out of most characters in “Hades 2”, Dionysus is one of the few who genuinely wants Prometheus to have a good time and doesn’t blame him for anything.
I’m also thinking about a new line in the update. In the game, Prometheus states how he admires mortals for striving for perfection despite their short, painful lives. In turn, in the update, Heracles talked about how Dionysus doesn’t care for perfection as he understands that it can never be achieved, which is why he parties all the time.
I really do think Prometheus and Dionysus would have interesting things to talk about.
Thank you so much @invisinoob10 for the tag! Here is an excerpt from the next chapter of “To Keep Honour Bright”:
~~~*~~~
Aeschyne’s mind was so full of racing thoughts, they threatened to burst her head. Her heart, it raced like a sparrow trapped inside a fist. Flapping its wings as it twittered and yelped. Aeschyne drew a deep breath in through her nose, yet still adrenaline burnt inside her veins. Silence, Aeschyne scolded herself. Now was not the time for rumination when she should be seeking Prometheus.
A clank behind her. Aeschyne turned around to see a fallen hammer upon the marble floor. But where did this hammer fall from? Aeschyne stepped closer as she peered. There was no ledge. There were no tables. Unless this hammer had dropped from the ceiling, there was no reason why this hammer should be here. Aeschyne picked the hammer up and turned around-
“Boo.”
Aeschyne yelped as Deucalion’s face popped out of a wall. Deucalion yelped, too. Then, he exhaled and began to chuckle. Deucalion chuckled so hard he put his hands over his chest. How full of zeal Deucalion was, just as Aeschyne had remembered him in life.
“Hah. Hahahah! Oh, Little Sister!” Deucalion greeted with utmost joy. His eyes glimmered so impossibly blue. “Your yelp has grown so loud since I’ve last heard you!”
A memory stirred within Aeschyne’s mind. That was what Deucalion would teased when the two fo them were growing up. Deucalion would prank Aeschyne and make her lose her composure. He found Aeschyne’s contagious fears amusing rather than disturbing, as anyone with the gall of youth would.
What Zeus had done to his daughters appeared in Aeschyne’s mind. But Deucalion looked so happy, Aeschyne did not want to shatter his brief moment of happiness. Aeschyne bowed. “Deucalion,” she greeted instead.
“Come on now, we’re not strangers!” Deucalion encouraged as he opened up his arms. “Huggies for Doodoo?”
Aeschyne flushed. A contagious flush dyed Deucalion’s cheeks a ruddy maroon, and he chuckled. Aeschyne frowned and marched away. To think Deucalion still reminded her of her infant babbles.
“Shades can’t feel touch,” Aeschyne reminded him. Everything she had done to Deucalion flooded her mind. Deucalion had every reason to loathe her. Surely this was a fit of deception hiding what he truly believed. “You don’t need to forgive me, nor ignore what I have done, Deuca.”
A cold gust as Deucalion stood in front of her. “Perhaps I cannot ignore you. Because you’re the little girl in the maid uniform who’d hide her face behind a veil. I can’t ignore how much you’ve grown, either.”
“I tried to execute you. I tormented your father. I was willing to murder him, all for the praise of the Gods who have tortured your family.”
“Nobody’s perfect,” Deucalion soothed too quickly. Aeschyne stared, confused. “And yet you disciplined Sisyphus for me. And yet you’d urge our father to flee. And yet you are here with us now. Those actions might as well make you so.”
Such earnest made it difficult for Aeschyne to refute anything back. She peered into Deucalion’s eyes. Sly Deucalion, using his sweet words to please others for his own agenda, like trapping flies with honey. An architect of his own path, truly the heir of Prometheus. “You… you’re scheming again, Deucalion,” she noted, as Prometheus would reply. “What do you want?”
one dynamic between zagreus and melinoe that i really love is that zagreus is heat while melinoe is fear
those are literally their resources on their respective pacts. but they run counter to each other
"fear is for the weak" zagreus vs "in the heat of everything, i lost my way" melinoe
zagreus is told that fear will ruin him as a warrior if he lets it in, melinoe is told to master and own hers and it makes her strong
zagreus is a literal trailblazer, letting momentum and friction and tension guide his motions, melinoe is a witch whose cauldron will bubble over if she isn't moderate with her heat
zagreus makes his worst decisions out of fear, he is afraid of commitment, afraid of being too close, afraid of having to be honest with his feeling, and that sabotages his relationships with thanatos and meg
where zagreus will openly clash with the people closer to him, melinoe will often balk at tension with her peers, having already lost too much. especially with the headmistress.
zagreus is heat. he is impetuous. he asks for forgiveness instead of permission. zagreus is perhaps the kindest soul in the underworld in the first game, but he will trample on your feelings and let you be mad at him and work that out however you want to so long as his meddling gets you to your goal. he meddles in the affairs of achilles to get him back with patrocles even after he says not to. he gets orpheus and eurydice back together even when they both say butt out. he tries to smooth things over with meg and her sisters and meg says someone with HIS family history shouldn't bother. even his own mother says "i'm happy and safe, isn't that enough?" and zagreus says no because she could be happier if she'd come down to the underworld. happiness OVER safety.
melinoe is fear. she is trepidation and patience. she is a veritable master of her craft and she understands that it is a craft that people are afraid of, and how to use that to her advantage and prey on their weakness. with arachne, with echo, with circe, with icarus, she wants better for all of them, but refuses to force their hands. she says "i think this will make you happier. but i will not take action without your explicit say-so". she knows that they are afraid and that fear is something to be handled appropriately, and let them reap the consequences of ignoring or embracing it themselves.
these siblings are a GREAT counterpart to each other
