small rant that really only i care about

so in august the Harold and The Purple Crayon movie is coming out. and to my shock, it looks like ass! hollywood drops the ball again!!

i grew up on the orginal books. i have read every single fucking one front to back. this genuinely boils my blood

so this is the orginal Harold and the Purple Crayon. the whole thing is that he's a fucking baby who draws stuff with, you guessed it, his purple crayon, and they come to life!! this is what made the series so like rereadable to me when i was little, the fact that he was drawing things that weren't like over-over the top!!

they even made a little cartoon in 2001!! in the same style!! they even adapted one of the stories for it!! it was cute! i believe there wasn't any dialogue outside of the narrator because, again, Harold is a baby! he can't talk.

but we turn our attention to the new movie.

what the hell is this. seriously no. what is this. it's live action, which i wouldn't have minded IF THEY HADNT AGED UP HAROLD WHICH DEFEATS THE ENTIRE PURPOSE OF HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON. and they make the situations so over the top that...wasn't even in the books??

like hollywood you're seriously telling me you can't animate this again and revive the 2001 animation of harold and the purple crayon

im so passionate about harold and the purple crayon it's literally my childhood and im being entirely serious when i say the trailer for the movie made me cry in a negative way
