Please Help
I hate to ask but my dog Julie desperately needs surgery. I come from a very poor family and we can hardly pay bills. Julie has lost the ability to use her back legs and is suffering. I really don’t want to put her down, she’s only 5 and we all love her so much. If anyone could, please donate or share this. I would be so grateful. I can’t lose my dog, she’s very precious to me. https://www.gofundme.com/6vdpc-help-my-dog&rcid=r01-155314556887-59c8ffd207794f50&pc=ot_co_campmgmt_m
My dog Julie is 5 years old and needs immediate help. She is sick and suffering. My poor girl has lost the use of her back legs, she won’t
so now my kitten loki can’t use his back left leg. it got dislocated or something but it’s swollen and it’s pain. god dammit i’m freaking out and i need help. they need help. i can’t afford to do anything for either of them so please, please help me. i’m job hunting to try and get any money but they need help NOW
would like to add: just because you cannot afford unexpected vet bills or things that come up that you cannot control does not mean you are abusing or neglecting your pets and you have no right to assume so. thank you please help my friend pay for his vet bills
Avoid video games that use extrinsic motivation. A video game should at least mostly rely on intrinsic motivation, meaning that the playing of the game itself is the fun part, not the reward you get for playing the game. If you don’t enjoy the gameplay, but you want to earn lootboxes, you’ve fallen into the intentionally exploitative system operating within so many games nowadays, and you need to find another game, because you’re not having fun.
It doesn’t sound serious, but this kind of thing can make depression way worse if you’ve already got depression.
This post got me to stop playing Overwatch and I’m eternally grateful.
It’s been 10 years???? Omfggggg
Your regular reminder that flint still doesn’t have clean water, but nestle does and makes residents pay for it…

what the signs will learn in 2018
aries: you’ll learn that all of your hard work is going to be worth it. all the time, effort, tears, etc. is going to turn around and be in your favor for once. without even noticing, everything will be changing and suddenly the relief of everything you’ve been working towards will be here.
taurus: you will learn to connect. you’ll learn to get out of your room that you’ve shut yourself in. you will realize that there’s a whole ocean of people who care about you, and you’ll finally let them into your life. you’ll create great friendships and relationships with people who really care.
gemini: you’ll learn that not everything is in your control, but that’s the beauty of everything. you never know what is going to happen next, so alas, you will learn to go with the flow and not worry as much as you have been.
cancer: you will learn who is really supposed to be in your life. it’s no secret that you’ve let people take advantage of you, but this year, you will learn to put your foot down and welcome in the people who have pure intentions. you won’t be so trustworthy of just anyone anymore, because you know that trust is earned.
leo: you will learn that you have to create your own happiness. you won’t depend on people for validation and reassurance as much as you used to, and it will be freeing to finally understand your own worth and love yourself.
virgo: you will learn that love comes in its own time. it cannot be forced, it cannot be begged for. you will realize that the people worth fighting for, actually will never have to be fought for and it will change your life for the better.
libra: you will learn that even when you don’t feel like it, people care about you. you might be overwhelmed a lot this year because of how many people come around and want to know how you are and how you’ve been. but, it will set your heart free knowing that these people aren’t going anywhere, and they really want to be here for you.
scorpio: you will learn the true value of the people in your life. it’s true, you’ve been hurt a lot. but you’ve really been starting to notice the people who have been around and stuck around all this time. the people that left you won’t matter as much anymore.
sagittarius: you will learn to care about yourself as you care for others. you will learn to take your big heart, and use it on yourself instead of constantly using it on others who simply don’t deserve it.
capricorn: you will learn that being lost means being found. you may have felt completely broken last year, but now, you will really start to figure yourself out. you won’t have to constantly wonder where you’re going or what you’re going to do, it doesn’t have to be so scary anymore.
aquarius: you will learn growth. you are going to grow a lot as a person this year and have lots of big changes. by the time this year ends, you won’t remember who you were at the beginning, but it will be beautiful.
pisces: you will learn to heal. all of these hurtful things that have happened to you over the years, you will learn to gracefully let them go. they won’t have such an impact on you anymore, and it will finally feel nice to move on and let yourself be free of it all.
“I wish I knew how to move slower. How to kiss hard and still come up for air. How to be kind to each moment like it is my very best lover, an engine of pumpkin sweat and skin. I hope I learn to love myself when no one is looking. I need to drink more water. Maybe that is all I ever need to do. Drink more water. Kiss you. Walk to the store. I am the slowest revolutionary.”
— Lauren Zuniga, from “Dear Lemon Engine”
What Native people say about the use of sage: you can use sage, but you cannot smudge as nothing you are doing (waving sage around) is actually smudging. Smudging is a ceremony and you are, we promise, not smudging. Please buy sage from either us, or someone who sources the sage from us. White sage may not be considered endangered by the US government but corperate sourcing is making it difficult for us to source sage for our own religious purposes. Let alone to sell it.
What white people hear: never use sage ever, don’t ever buy it, don’t own it, don’t even look at it.
Look, y’all. There’s a couple of facets to my talk today.
1) Yes! You can buy sage! You really, truly can! Buy it from either native sellers (go to a powwow! Eat our food, buy our stuff, watch some dancing!) Or buy it from a seller who sources the sage from native people. Pick one. And no, buying it from 5 Below doesn’t count.
2) you CANNOT smudge. This isn’t just you “shouldn’t”— this is a YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF SMUDGING. Waving a sage stick around your doorways IS NOT SMUDGING. It is smoke clensing. Smudging, depending on the tradition and tribe, could easily have dancing and drums involved. You, as a white person, do not have the cultural BACKGROUND to even know how it works. At all. Period.
3) please, for FUCKS SAKE, stop making posts here on tumblr where you tell other white people about cultural appropriation and what they can and cannot do. Please stop, your license has been revoked because none of you bother to get the facts right. We native people are FULLY CAPABLE OF DOING IT OURSELVES. Consider instead: a) reblogging our posts where we talk about it! We’re here! We have made posts!! b) Making a post that states what we said and then LINKS BACK TO US. Screenshot with a link if you must. Stop centering your own voices in these conversations. You are already centered in everything, stop centering yourselves in a native space.
I’m tired of this nonsense, y’all.
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk ™
Folks who didn’t have tumblr before 2010-2011ish didn’t have to deal with all those fucking gifs of that guy who worked as Peter Pan at Disneyland and subsequently hear about the drama that ensued when Tumblr Kids kept fuckig stalking him at work
The way that we learn about Helen Keller in school is an absolute outrage. We read “The Miracle Worker”- the miracle worker referring to her teacher; she’s not even the title character in her own story. The narrative about disabled people that we are comfortable with follows this format- “overcoming” disability. Disabled people as children. Helen Keller as an adult, though? She was a radical socialist, a fierce disability advocate, and a suffragette. There’s no reason she should not be considered a feminist icon, btw, and the fact that she isn’t is pure ableism- while other white feminists of that time were blatent racists, she was speaking out against Woodrew Wilson because of his vehement racism. She supported woman’s suffrage and birth control. She was an anti-war speaker. She was an initial donor to the NAACP. She spoke out about the causes of blindness- often disease caused by poverty and poor working conditions. She was so brave and outspoken that the FBI had a file on her because of all the trouble she caused.
Yet when we talk about her, it’s either the boring, inspiration porn story of her as a child and her heroic teacher, or as the punchline of ableist, misogynistic jokes. It’s not just offensive, it’s downright disgusting.
the reason the story stops once hellen keller learns to talk is no one wanted to listen to what she had to say
how’s that for a fucking punchline
Another part of the story that is often conveniently omitted is that Anne Sullivan, the “miracle worker” in question, was also a visually impaired woman (and abolitionist) who faced her own struggles finding accessible education. That was why she was able to teach Helen Keller and connect her with resources that would allow her to flourish in academia. When Helen Keller was railing against poverty-induced diseases that caused blindness, she was talking about things like trachoma which was what had caused her friend’s vision loss.
The fact that Sullivan is often portrayed as able-bodied in retellings of their story is indicative of the narrative that is most comfortable for an ableist society: that accessibility and equality are gifts bestowed upon the disabled by able-bodied heroes. Disabled children are never taught that they have the power to lift each other up, and that’s a crying shame.
Tumblr was where I first saw naked trans bodies presented as natural and beautiful. Not as objects of pornography, or as something freaky, just beautiful human bodies. It was very important to me. It disturbs me this is being taken away.
At least Alex is here for us
