Wormhole Visuals - New art installation by CM Ruiz
Principle Photography by Megumi Shauna Arai, Modeling by Emily Cripe
Artist and illustrator C. M. Ruiz will create an installation of new work in collaboration with photographer and multimedia artist Megumi Arai at a brand new, temporary venue in downtown Seattle for Thursday, May 5. The venue is the former home of the Lusty Lady, a late and lamented peep show venue and strip club known for its progressive politics and fair treatment of sex workers. The many subjects and ideas evoked by the venue’s past will be reflected in the themes of the artwork. The Lusty Lady was a physically dark and shadowy place, but also a place for dancers and patrons to claim their sexuality and empowerment. Now that the space is unoccupied I want to create pieces that are linked with reflection, time, space and power to fill the space with light. I am using new techniques to directly reflect how our city, the building and the world around us are evolving. Like them, I too am evolving and embracing change. As a central goal, the show is striving to create a physical sensation of memories that change upon reflection, creating a feeling of nostalgia and enlightenment.
