Beautiful words.
30/365 Visualizing a peaceful place can induce feelings of calm and ease in the midst of the intensity of everyday life. Creating this feeling of escape where you reside is even better. Make your physical space an extension of your peaceful place. (at C'est Moi's)
29/365 Unconditional love - a debatable topic. I believe the only absolute is that you can, and should, unconditionally love yourself. Do you?
28/365 Home. It's where the heart is. Your heart. So you are your own home. Take care of yourself, your interior as well as your exterior, so that you may be your own refuge. Your own place of peace. God bless this home.
27/356 I had a lover who said he loved me, but I didn't feel it. I had a lover who claimed he didn't love me, but I had never felt it more. I learned an important lesson - I need to be loved and I need to feel loved. One or the other won't do, so I walked away from both. With every heartache you learn.
26/365 Balance. Type A enough to be prepared. Type B enough to chill during a blizzard. (at C'est Moi's)
25/365 My daughter is entering a goal into her school's student portal - to go to Parson's School of Design. Goals are important for progress in life. No matter your age, never stop challenging yourself.
24/365 Close your eyes and conjure up that feeling of having a snow day as a kid. The freedom. The relief. The letting go of what you thought you had to do. Even though we're not kids any more, allow yourself that feeling now and then. The snow day forces us to live in an unexpected present moment - a gift when you're thinking about all the stuff you're supposed to do, that now you can't. If you grew up in a place where snow days didn't exist, you can use your imagination. Sometimes, even when it's 90 degrees, you need to give yourself a snow day and let go. (at C'est Moi's)
23/365 My son often talks about needs versus wants. He thinks people can be too "want" focused and, in his opinion, it's a major problem with society. Wants aren't wrong per se, but to err on the side of contentment in having our needs met would probably lead to gratitude for what we already have. Therein lies a key to happiness. Maybe we don't need more. Have I mentioned he's nine years old? #wisdom
22/365 I remember when I used to worry. Hours of precious life wasted as I anxiously thought about future events I had absolutely no control over. Sure, I still suffer anxiety now and then - but it's not because of worry. #TBT
21/365 Mediocrity is the bedfellow of Good Enough. I admit, I have difficulty distinguishing between the two. Personal standards come into play on this subject. I used to err on the side of perfectionism, until I learned to be gentler on myself (and others). It feels to me that today's rushed mentality has its casualties. I can't definitively say what's good enough, but I do know one thing - there's no joy in mediocrity. (at C'est Moi's)
20/365 I was about three years old and my mom had this beautiful aloe plant. She told me aloe is healing, and I darn near killed that poor plant, applying fresh aloe to all my boo boos. Unfortunately, some scars you receive as a kid take more than aloe. Real healing comes from exposing old wounds in a safe environment where you can be your own best parent. #therapyrocks #healing
19/365 Know when you need to ask for help and do it. #familymeeting #changes
18/365 If or when you leave a person you love, it is only important that you know your worth; not that they ever figure it out. #nofilter
17/365 your warmth against my back your breath on my neck brings tears to my eyes even as we lay tangled like an unbalanced yin-yang your black against my white my heart opposite your head tears because I know I’m willing to play a part against my soul’s will you are the Hamlet who forgets Yorick I am the self that forgets to be true lying in my nakedness alone with you cns 1.16.15
16/365 There's good judgement and poor judgement. Decisions that come from a place of balance and wisdom. Those that come from a reckless heart and a careless mind. The choices you make can have a butterfly effect on your life and the lives of those around you. Strive for clarity and choose wisely. (Wine is almost always a good decision.)
15/365 Rise and shine! My step-dad used to wake me up everyday with that statement and I loathed it. It was more so the waking up, I suppose. Now, rising and shining is my life goal. #shineeverydamnday
