Today’s problematic ship is the SS Imo

SS Imo was a Norwegian steamship. In 1917 she was chartered to bring supplies from Halifax, Canada to war-torn Western Europe. In the harbor, the difficult-to-maneuver Imo crashed into the ammunition ship Mont-blanc.

The collision was not serious, but it started a fire that spread to Mont-blanc’s massive cargo of dynamite. The explosion–the largest manmade explosion in history at the time–and the resulting tsunami demolished nearly every structure in a half-mile radius. 1,782 people were confirmed killed, and another 9,000 were injured.

Imo survived the explosion and continued to serve as a whale oil tanker until crew negligence caused her to run aground off the Falklands in 1921, where she was abandoned.

"hi i read your paper for a class and it was very helpful, im at xyz college and the class is blah with professor blah" is sufficient and ENORMOUSLY helpful
