Syd and Carmy acting like a divorcing couple and giving in and having first-time breakup sex to call it quits after their fight in Goodbye only to realize it’s so damn good that they really don’t want this to end after all is a hilarious setup.

This being the last service which then turns out to be the first service of their now award-winning restaurant that’s falling apart is also funny.

His mom reading all his notebooks like they are torrid novelas, only for her to see the happy ending of the story unfold in front of her in real time is excellent?

Syd and Carmy recommit to each other in the middle of service and Carmy lets Syd fully take the lead when it turns out she already had the stars all along?

It’s so wonderful and memorable Carmy can’t stop thinking about it and at the young age of 32 or whatever has to put on a suit and tie and go to his first real job interview and all he can talk about is how, actually, he loves how his life has turned out?

They thought it was all ending and it ends with that they are only just getting started living life together and Syd and Carmy are inseparable and are going to be wonderfully happy together when we’ve been told by the media Sydcarmy isn’t a real thing?

Awesome sauce.

The Bear is definitely a comedy but it’s also delightful and sweet.

I cut the music track from snippets of the party and the very end of the episode, added volume, and did my best to add some subtitles where I felt they were relevant to Sydcarmy.

I honestly love this. Sydney asking Carmy to help plate the cake, them plating, then I guess Carmy left, because he had to do something with the presents? Then Sydney is complaining about doing this by herself lmao. Also that "I can do real big" and those finger licking noises 👀

my bear theory is that carmy is never gonna be satisfied with the lamb until he realizes his feelings for syd because he unconsciously ties that dish to her in his mind. He’s either gonna realize his feelings when working on it & leave to go tell her, or they confess how they feel and they’ll work on it together and he’ll finally be satisfied.

let me get this straight.

we got the fact that sydney lied saying she’d go to the original beef on sundays with her dad when they’re always closed on sundays just to work under carmy (s1 says they are open 7 days a week HOWEVER in s1 episode 8 syd tells marcus that her family rarely ate out and then in season 2 carmy tells claire how much he hates sundays)

the THOUGHT of sydney calming carmy down during a panic attack twice mind you when the thought of claire only made it worse

the iconic table scene in season two

the fact that CARMYS FIRST DISH was the best meal sydney had (looked like a bleeding heart mind you)

burned himself out and put the restaurant in debt because he wanted to get a star FOR SYDNEY not for himself

carmy saying he liked this when it was literally just them in the kitchen in episode one mind you

him literally begging sydney to let him come to the hospital and that phone call in general

both the kid and donna’s crazy ass clocked sydcarmy and they didn’t even watch them interact

carmy literally sounding so sad with that “you didn’t talk to me all service” in episode ten

the fact that sydney knows she can run the bear herself with sugar and richie but she WANTS to work with carmy cried over the fact that he was leaving her

and yet they’re still pushing the claire and carmy narrative when every single action points to carmy and sydney right…right…

I have always liked these scenes. They are very symbolic.

Neither Carmy nor Michael cares about raisins; maybe they don't like them, but because it's the way Donna used to do it, Nat is angry that they are not respecting her mother's traditions. Nat is the one who grew up trying to win Donna's affection by emotionally regulating her; she wants to do things in a way that would make Donna happy.

Carmy goes and tries to force a complicated version of Donna's chicken recipe onto the staff instead of the practical and straightforward Sydney's risotto. He wants to excel but prove to his mother his affection and devotion by using the recipe (well, the whole 7 fishes course in the restaurant). He is trapped in this narrative; he wants to make her mother proud.

Funny enough, Michael is the most vocal in disrespecting Donna's traditions, but that's in here, because in Fishes, he would take his mother's side in arguments all night. In the second scene, Michael is so unorganized that he cannot finish the recipes on his own; Carmy does it. Michael would rebel against his mother in private and to his siblings, but come back to submit to Donna in her presence. Which is also the reason he never sought help for his issues while living under her roof.

The scene in 3x09 when Jimmy is telling Carmy to deal with his mom and the lines were "You've been fucking avoiding it, haven't you?" And Carmy says "Yeah. Hoping it would just go away" and Jimmy says the only way to do that is to "just run right the fuck into it" and something tells me this is not only about the mommy issues and maybe other feelings he hopes would go away.
