Myasthenia Gravis Vs Lambert-Eaton Syndrome
MG:
Autoimmune attack on neuromuscular junction; antibodies are usually directed against ACh receptors.
Causes motor weakness, often of extraocular, bulbar, and facial muscles; Strength decreases with increased use of muscles.
Diagnose with Edrophonium (short-acting)
Treat with Pyridostigmine and neostigmine (long-acting)
Lambert-Eaton sydrome:
Autoimmune attack on presynaptic calcium channels, often paraneoplastic (small cell carcinoma of lung),
Strength increases with increased effort.
