“Yeah, well maybe I go with you one of these days. There’s not much to do around here anyway.” He opened one eye to look at her and chuckled with a low voice. “Hmm just be around, help Blue with some stuff...nothing too interesting.”

Going to work on this day should not be different from any other day or so he hoped. He was not a big fan of celebrating his birthday but it seemed that in the office, some people took it like a big deal or at least worth of celebration.

Night dragged himself that early morning to the building where he worked, dressed in the fitting black suit that was his uniform and a leather jacked over all of it. The day passed somehow fast, nothing outside the common besides...that some of his co-workers bought him a slice of cheap pie with a single candle for him to blow. There were some balloons and stickers, hugs and good wishes and pretty much just that..and he was glad that they were not allowed to make a big fuzz at the office. It was around 6:00 pm when he was walking home, throwing the rest of the pie on a garbage can when he then passed through a small bakery...the smell coming out was... It couldn't be.

Night frowned and approached a little more, his neighbour from the following floor was always cooking such delicious things and making him weak. He was supposed to stay on shape but oh boy if he hadn't drooled from the smell alone before. Out of curiosity and ...the smell that reminded him to the cute guy from the next floor he entered the store and started to look around. The shape of the smaller cakes were really cool, creative and he couldn't get how someone could do that with sugar, eggs and milk. He raised his gaze when he saw a pair of shoes approaching the counter and.. "Oh shit-"

“Are you sure? You can still back down.” Oliver asked, his bloody finger inches away from Mark’s face as he bit his lower lip. “Mark…Mark, open your eyes.”

“Yes I can do this!” Mark opened his eyes and grabbed Oliver’s finger.

“Okay, cool. Just one more test…” Oliver said, pressing his finger to make more blood come out before moving it with the intention of rubbing it on Mark’s face.

Mark closed his eyes and held his breathe, hoping the stupid test would be end soon because hell he was not going to stay in the Tower another night.

“I can do it.” He said through clenched teeth.

“There’s nothing fun on being a receptionist.”

“Okay, fine.” He could understand that but…He couldn’t risk it so he took out his knife and showed it to Mark. “If you can take this, you can come, if not, you wait here.” He explained simply, a smile on his lips before making a little cut on his finger, blood oozing from it instantly.

“I can take that.” He swallowed hard and glanced down at his finger and then up into his eyes again. Hold up Mark...just...hold it up.

“Yeah but you should’ve told me this sooner.” He frowned. “You’ll stay put. I can’t have you barfing or fainting just because you saw a little blood, pal.”

“I know...I’m sorry. It’s just..I don’t know, I guess I’ve been bored and wanted to have a more important part in one job at least. Come on man, I can take it...you’ll see.”
