PEOPLE!! Ohh Really?!
We live in a learned society.People who buy stuffs more for social status than for the point if it is actually worth make a good count of the total. A society where everyone has a plan to buy a house,a car and some good number of fixed deposits to have a secured future well enough to tackle the inflated cost of living in future. With the general exposure to international and national trends on an upslope,I can indeed raise my hand with all the materialistic content feel if someone puts forth the question, " Are you proud of the society you live in?".
But then looking at it from a perspective of me being a part of it, some sensitivities do make me ponder about "What's the point?". One of those instances will be when I travel to office every day, like every other person who does, I face the wrath of traffic rather PEOPLE!! A person who has had a breakdown with his/her vehicle obviously cannot fly off the scene running with the vehicle clutched on his/her back. Any sensible person will know and understand it will take quite a few minutes for the panicked person to clear things off. On a better case,it will be even easier if someone offers a help. What really happens is a pandemonium of all the types of horns as if the person has parked his vehicle for a bonnet brunch at the middle of the road.
I see a minimum of 5 to 6 BMW/AUDI type cars on road every time I commute. Whenever such a car overtakes,I invariably glide down with an air of a King crossing me kind. The words like royal,First Class, etc strike me for the car. It is at that point of me searching for better words to describe the feel, I get the entire film tape shattered when I see the owner of the car(DUH well dressed as supposed to be) ,open the window and spit his froth on road. What's the whole point of even owning and driving such a car when you can do something so undermining.
I commute in the IT expressway and I am sure most of them who commute the same way are well off professionals in various dignified posts. But then again what's the whole point when you blindly honk, honk and honk at a car in front of you with a huge bus at its right side and a hollow pit on its left side. How can such a person even be classified as a sensible person in the first place who can see nothing but the left gap for him to cross the stretch. There is no broader view. All people want is the obstacle before them to be cleared. Have people really lost it? will be my "to-be-pondered-upon" point most of the time.
Now "WHAT'S THE WHOLE POINT" when you have learned so much to put enough degrees beside your name, a furnished Asian painted apartment in a first class area and a enviable car or a super classic bike when you have really lost the basic human tendencies of courtesy, sensibility and all that's there is a very blinkered vision of just what you need in the only way visible to you though there would be a different better way to get it done.
I have heard some say, "I make it a point I visit an orphanage every month", " I regularly donate so and so much of money to various social causes". It is really pitiful when they think they return something to the society just by signing a cheque. Does it make one a complete individual?. I seriously doubt. To be civilized lies in the mindset and not really in the bank deposits or the luxuries possessed. Many good groups portray the themes of love, affection and care to make the place we live a better place. The least common of all these qualities is a bit of courtesy which itself is a huge lag in our society and until we really develop ourselves and our minds,we can never dream of a developed society.
P.S. More than being sociable acknowledging the co-existence of people, though different in all the ways from one another, yet possess the same human emotions seems to be the need of the hour.
