dinosaur phase

i never had a dinosaur phase as a kid because i thought dinosaurs were for boys but as an adult i feel such an excitement about them. i feel like there’s such a fun resurgence in the dinosaur community whenever a jurassic park/world movie comes out and it’s beautiful. be enthusiastic! embrace new hobbies and interests! this world of knowledge is all open to us to explore!

i wrote a sonnet and it’s not very good but i’d like to store it somewhere and here is as good a place as any. i wrote it for a class, but i was inspired by Camus’ The Myth of Sisyphus

There was a man called Sisyphus, a king

Of wit and strength. He did twice foil demise,

Now cursed ever rolling to the skies:

Great boulder he must up the mountain bring.

And up and back down, forever’s sharp sting.

What does he see, when upward casts his eyes?

Humdrum drudge, again uncolored sun’s rise.

What cause continues, why to life so cling?

Yet daily, Sisyphus arises new,

His fate’s absurdity, his path is true.

The mountaintop for him holds reflection,

While task at hands does provide direction,
