Reminder that Palestinians in Gaza are being deliberately starved by Israel. Families in gaza are boiling plant leaves and eating them. They're also eating animals and birds food to stay alive. There are reported cases of kids and infants who died out of hunger and/ or cold. Starving people is part of genocide too. Remember how fast medicine was provided for the Israeli hostages, while Palestinians are starving for food and water and getting operations and amputations performed with no medication or anesthesia whatsoever.

one thing i need to start living by is “become the thing that you want” if i want friends who throw themed parties maybe i should start throwing those parties. if i want someone who writes me love letters maybe i should start writing letters for the people i love. if i want to hang out at museums and pretty cafes maybe i should invite my friends to these places. and maybe even then i won’t find the kind of people i want to be around. but then i would have become the exact person i want to be around. and maybe that’s good enough.
Tatreez (Arabic: تطريز) is a form of traditional Palestinian embroidery. Tatreez uses traditional cross-stitch embroidery and is practiced largely among women. The craft was originally practiced in rural areas of Palestine, but is now common across the Palestinian diaspora. Historically, each village in Palestine had their own tatreez patterns. The landscape was a major source of inspiration for the patterns and motifs, which speaks to the variation in style that was common to see among all of the different tatreez expressions that were particular to each Palestinian village. In the early origin of tatreez, the landscape was a major source of inspiration for Palestinian women in designing many patterns and motifs. This speaks to the variation in style that was common to see among all of the different tatreez expressions that were particular to each Palestinian village.
After the violent displacement and dispossession of Palestinians in 1948, people were living together in refugee camps. The different styles of tatreez became less distinct and have continued to evolve with the diaspora. Following 1948, tatreez evolved to reflect the experiences of Palestinians. Palestinian women began to incorporate the Palestinian flag and its colors into their tatreez as a means of resistance to the occupation of Palestine. Consequently, tatreez became an expression of the identity, heritage and resistance of Palestinian women and their dedication to preserve their ancient culture.

His name is Ramzi Abu Redwan. During the time the picture was taken he was 8 years old. Today he is 36 and has become a world-class solo musician and composer, playing the Oud, Buzuq, Violin and Viola.
He was discovered by a Palestinian musician who recognized his natural talent at the viola, and later received a scholarship to study at a conservatory in France. He could have stayed there and lived a comfortable life in Paris, but instead, he chose to return home and give back the gift of music by openning music schools in Palestinian towns and refugee camps.
he’s got a spotify btw!! if you’ve never heard a oud, i def encourage listening to his work. it’s a beautiful instrument from a beautiful people ❤🖤🤍💚
here’s my personal fave of what i’ve heard so far from his top 5

No one really know when Rubens arrived or where he comes from, but one day, he was here.
Everybody has different memories, maybe he came during the banquet, but don't you remember him at the ceremony ? No, it might have been earlier, really.
He's always doing his little things, serving as the messenger with the rival kingdom, playing tricks and strimming the lute.
If you don't know where he is, he can always be found at the Luck Goddess temple, in the heart of the Castle. He is there, praying, hours and hours a day. He might be his most devoted servant.
More lore from The God, the Monster and the Liar! More puzzles and mysteries wohoo

it’s cool and fun and special that you can usually do whatever you put your mind to. if you want to be well read know the history of architecture learn to play the piano write consistently sew your own clothes run better speak a foreign language fluently all you have to do is apply curiosity and patience and determination, learn in a way that most makes sense to you, and one day you too will have absorbed the skills necessary to be good at something you once merely envied
