It‘s Gold-ish

Our client wants his hyper mansion to feel like a firework. I understand that he wants the biggest effect money can buy. But in your home the interior should bring calm and serenity. I‘m glad i could convince him.

Nevertheless, the client is King (i think he‘d love this title) So last week I researched and looked into all the different ways to apply a golden finish to various materials. I decided to focus on Metals and Fabrics. The two elements are visible from outside and are also found inside.

24 K Plated Gold - Brushed Champagne - Brushed Nickel - Brushed Rosé



We went with Brushed champagne for all “Goldish” pieces. Think handles, window hinges, Glasshouse structures and the curtains behind but also modern chandeliers and daybeds, cushions and some of the wall coverings. Pretty nice to have Vienna‘s coolest skyline symbol out my window. 😁 it’s so inspiring, and motivating. 🗽 I could watch this thing turn for hours! I‘ve never been up, I used to believe it’s a tourist trap… what a stupid thought. I don’t know about you, but I Looooove the #sun ☀️. My favorite place under the sun? The shadow. 😆The real shadow not like backstage, hidden just to pull strings, no no, ☝️that’s not me uh uh, nonono. Anyways, I had a thought for Zaha today and I spent an hour looking at what the grand lady has done in her time. I must say: quite impressing 👏. If you pass by her library in Vienna, walk in and have a taste of the future. I know, books are scary… but I believe in you! I love this place, 😍it’s so white! I would transform the interior into a cooooool bar full of color splashes or a multimedia library of all sounds of the universe, or maybe a tropical garden with a waterfall and a tower to climb up to the sit on the roof edge. 🤩do you recognize it? I walked by this house for years and always wondered about its funky facade and what it would possibly be hiding… Some psychedelic evil rituals by grand artists? Someone told me I’m not that far from the truth. It turns out the architect Otto Wagner lived here for many years. Well now it kinda makes sense… (at Vienna, Austria)

Vienna’s nicest sunset! 

I’m not sure I’m ever going to capture that again, I guess it only happens once in a Viennese lifetime. Good that I capture that with my crappy phone camera! I’m almost sure the colours don’t match with reality, but hey... I can’t change that, so just take it in, enjoy and stop hatin’. I’m not hatin’ just sayin’. well stop sayin’ and start lovin’. Ugly Architecture + Ugly Colours = Ugly Day

It’s a moody building seen from close. it has a great marble/ Granit texture, I’m not sure about it. You can find in the street close to Mariahilfer Street. I didn’t notice it until lately and i was glossy in this rainy day. I thought it’ll be a superstar in my collection but after a while nothing more interesting than these shades of grey happened... So I accepted the mediocrity of this weeks post. Let’s see what will find me today...

I used to work as a delivery guy for the Lange Nacht der Museen. Boring until I found this. My job was to deliver the booklets and tickets and stuff to the museums in some remote locations in Austria, that was a lot of driving through beautiful landscapes and little sleepy villages. It was fun! I loved it. A lot to discover at every corner. One day, I came along this building. It stood there elegantly. I drove by and my attention was hooked immediately. I tried to enter the premise but no chance to get a better viewpoint than this one. No filters here, the atmosphere was just like that, in mid autumn, misty, tranquility and mystery. The best setting for designers to focus and experiment.

It’s the headquarters of Bene in Waidhofen, somewhere in Austria. It’s designed by Laudris Ortner. It’s the same architect who designed the Museumsquartier as we know it today, and the MUMOK you can find it dissected in one of the early posts of this series. Stay tuned for next week’s beauty. Hi reader, I don't wanna bore you too much with philosophy, but do you know those days when your brain chooses to question just about everything? Your life, your happiness, your choices, your dreams... Well today is one of those days. (by the way it's also Monday, Easter Monday and this is the only bird that looks like a bunny I have to share, hope you like it) This week's post is dedicated to knowledge. This owl greets me daily. It started more than ten years ago when I started studying in the building next to it. It's the owl of knowledge, the bird is carrying the library of the technical university of Vienna at district 4 on its back. I called her Fatma like my grandma, she reminds me of her, she also knows a lot but doesn't talk much... I have spent countless hours there. Many hours of procrastinating, late hours of studying and some more hours of silent meditation (sleeping). The place is always packed with interesting but introverted folks, staring at rocket science engine drawings on their laptop or checking other very important stuff like cat videos. Some had steam coming out of their ears. Anyways, the statue reminds me how tedious the process of learning can be, how long it can take to finally see through things. How much time, energy and some form of will or blindness that involves. I love to learn, i don't know why but I enjoy the way to reach it, I climb that mountain and when I'm at the summit, I feel empowered, I feel great, I believe I can change whatever I choose. Than comes the hike down... where I question it all. All the amazing things it allows you to do when you have that precious knowledge and all the other things you need to let go because you know better. And all the new paths it opens. Knowledge is amazing, amazingly enriching. But Just like money, I believe it doesn't make one happy to have a ton of it, at some point it just doesn't matter and the question will remain: Now that you have it, what you gonna do with it?
