A/N: It sounds terrible to say, but I hope this breaks your heart. also, next chapter of By Tomorrow coming soon!
The wedding had to be delayed another day or two, depending on Simon’s energy. He was damn tired of sleeping all the time and told Elaine so. “Quit giving me sleeping draughts, woman,” he said to her. She ignored him. She had a great deal of patience for the man, as she did for everyone.
She continually made the mistake of sitting with him when Elaine could not. Simon sensed her reluctance and teased her by calling her “sister.” There you are, little sister. How does my dear sister fare today? Such a dutiful sister to sit with your poor injured brother.
“Don’t tease me,” she finally said.
“Henry teases you constantly, so I hear.”
“He’s my husband. I make special allowances for him.” The way he took her to bed made her especially lenient with him.
She was surprised by how much she missed it. she assumed that when he left, her desire would recede, but it was practically all she could think about. That, and green apples. She wanted them to the point she’d dream of them and wake up drooling. She took it as a sign that she was not carrying a child, since women in that situation had no appetite for flesh.
