okay hi i barely post here anymore but with the ratfish behind the scenes coming out soon i feel like i should post my theory now so i can either be proven so right, or so wrong, and let's see what it is.

(game changer season finale spoilers below the cut!)

okay, here's my theory. so you know that article from variety having a passage that implies hank green was supposed to be the ratfish? after they couldn't get hank green, they tried to get a bunch of other special guests, and eric wareheim was a very late pick. like, by the time they got eric the episode was far enough in development that they couldn't rework the game to accommodate the new guest anymore.

if they were writing the game with someone knowledgeable of dropout in mind, then all the ratfish mechanics make way more sense. them being a judge works because they understand this sense of humour, they know the tone of jokes the audience likes and the crew is going for. them being a "wild card" to "shake things up" make sense if it's someone who at the very least knows a surface amount of information about these people and can play the kind of "pretend to be x member", "throw in this mannerism/type of gag to throw people off the scent" game the other players were doing. a player that's able to play the same game while not having the same tells the other players have. that's way more of a wild card than "player that doesn't quite fit in, in the game where you're told a player doesn't fit in"

of course, it wouldn't have been a perfect game, but it would've made more sense at least.

but anyways let's see how wrong i'm proven
