Two days ago I had really unpleasant situation at work. Basically, I work as a nurse and here’s what happened.

Two days ago I got a call from my director saying that something has come to their attention and would like me to come for a meeting. They did not say anything specific about the situation which left me very concerned and scared. Thousands of scenarios crossed my mind and the first thing I thought was: “Shit, I’m getting fired.” without knowing what could be the reason for that. I could not recall doing anything that would raise such and alarm. Anyway, I came to my work place and sat in the office with my director. Here’s the story: Certian amout of sedatives went missing from drug cabinet and they had a reason to believe I was the one who took/stole them. I looked at them with eyes wide opened and asked why, on Earth, would you think that was me? And guess what was their answer. Because they saw my hands and they are filled with scars for which they believe are from self harm. THEY SAW MY SCARS AND THOUGH I WAS CRAZY ENOUGH TO STEAL BUNCH OF SEDATIVES! They assumed I had mental issues, depression to be exact, and that was enough of a reason to conclude I stole those drugs. Yes, I was battlleing depression. Yes, I did harmed myself. But I recovered. And that’s not even a point or a valid reason to accuse someone of such thing. I have nothing to hide and did not stole those drugs. For all they know, those drugs might not even be stolen. They could simply be missplaced or not ordered from pharmacy in the first place. BUT NO! SHE HAS SCARS! SHE IS MENTALY UNSTABLE! SHE MUST HAVE DONE IT!

I was more then dissapointed. And I know that they wont have trust in me anymore. All of my actions will be closely supervised BECAUSE I’M MENTALY UNSTABLE! BECAUSE I’M AN ADDICT! Or the best of all... BECAUSE THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT ME! (I hope you see sarcasm in that)

And the question I’ve been asking myself for past two days is will my scars always be reason people won’t trust me or assume I am guilty for all drug/addiction/harm related issues?

Will my past with depression forever label me as unstable person?
