Bisibele bhath A couple of weeks ago, the parents at Westmead Community Hub cooked up Bisebele bhath, which literally translates to “hot lentil rice”. Here is the recipe for this delicious, exotic dish. Ingredients: Rice - 2 cups Toor dhal - 2 cups Vegetables - Carrots (2), beans (15), potato (1), green peas (half cup) Onions - 2 Tomatoes - 3 Corriander leaves Curry leaves Tamarind paste - 1 teaspoon Turmeric poweder - half teaspoon Bisibelebhaath powder - 4 teaspoons Salt to taste Ghee - 4 teaspoons Khara boondi For seasoning - Mustard (half teaspoon), urid daal (1 teaspoon), small onions (10 in number), Hing powder, curry leaves, corriander leaves. Method: 1. Pressure cook rice, dhaal, turmeric powder, hing for 5-6 whistles with 10 cups of water. 2. In another cooker, pressure cook all the vegetables along with turmeric, salt and Hing. Add 2 cups of water for 3-4 whistles. 3. Once cooked, mix both together, then add Bisibelebhaath powder, tamarind paste, curry leaves, corriander leaves, salt, ghee. 4. Season in ghee. 5. Serve hot with boondi and ghee.
