okay actual criticism before salt resumes:

firstly, hammond’s design is frankly lazy. a five-year-old could have designed something better. it’s just boring to look at. “whoa, a hamster in a ball, I wanna play THAT hero!!!!” - nobody ever. I don’t even remember watching his reveal video because my brain blanked out into elevator music and beige. for blizzard, a company RENOWNED for exceptional character design, this is just a disappointment. he has the appeal of a 24/7 livestream of a call center in tennessee.

second, it is fucking Pride month. it has been YEARS since tracer was revealed as lesbian. and they give us this? this bullshit? like, I wasn’t expecting much tbh, blizzard is clearly unconcerned with giving us any queer heroes like they promised, but I swear to the gods if they retcon this and say hammond’s gay I will strangle whoever’s in charge. they refuse to acknowledge the large queer community that plays their game in favor of pandering to the Straight White Gamer Bros and I’m tired of them getting a pass for it. this fuckin “ambiguous sexuality” bullshit they’re pulling with all their queer-coded characters where they hint at characters being LGBT+ but refuse to confirm it is manipulative and exhausting. it’s designed to string queer people along while also pacifying the Dudebros and blizzard doesn’t get to claim that they’re “progressive” and “LGBT+ friendly” when they continue to deny us actual representation in favor of making money.

anyway, that’s my two cents. I’m just so tired and bitter about all this shit
