I also added my character and the environment together for an example of my character concept art. Allow I didn’t try to keep any certain colour scheme I found sticking to primary colours really bought my character and environment to live especially as I was aiming this animation to a younger audience.

This is the final set of drawings from my traditional animation. In each set of drawings including the previous posts I made to sure to add follow through with each animation even the smallest amount of it can help bring the animation alive, as with this I added a follow through on the string of the balloon and even added a little bit of wind in the animation.

These are the drawings from my traditional animation, I haven’t included all of them as I felt these were the most significant of the series of images.

When I was creating my first walk cycle animation, I was able to try and make a traditional animation, this was done by drawing each frame of movement on a different page and combining the images together to make it seem like the object is in motion.

I had a lot of fun making this though it was very difficult to get each drawing lined up to each other, I could have added more drawings to extend the time of the animation but I didn’t have enough time to do so, but was very happy with the outcome. I also added a colour filter over the drawings when I was editing it together to brighten it up and slightly change the colour to make it more appealing.

Wanting to add a little more to character to my screen, I added some wind effects across the grass and added some leaves blowing off the tree.

When trying to create a good grass palette I had tested out a few different brushes. I found that the type of brush was important as the brush needed to have a ease of mixing colours and a load colour option, with this I was able to pick two different greens and was able to blend them to create a good grass texture.

This is a few screenshots of my progress when drawing my second environment for my concept art. In the second image I had finished blocking out the main colours and added some finer details.

I wanted to create a few more pieces of art I could maybe use in my animation, this was also used for my assignment as concept art. I tried adding some shadows to the drawings and seeing what they would look like in different angles which can be seen in the second image.

For my animation from earlier posts I decided to digitally draw my environment using the iPad Pro. The first two images are when I was laying out the plan of the environment while the third image is my result of the planning. I added a filter over the image to give a more twilight feel to it, doing this helped make the pink clouds fit better and added a purple overtone to the environment.

With my assignment in my last post I was also tasked with creating a few different environments. I chose to make of the my characters house from a lower down front view as if you were looking up at it, it didn’t turn out as I had planned but I felt it added a little more character to the work.

For one of my assignments I had to create concept art of my character in different angles, I chose to add some more heads showing different emotions just to get a better feel of my character!

These are a series of screenshots I had taken during a workshop I had done learning about After Effects puppet tool, rigging and hierarchy (also known as parenting).

In the first scree shot I had parented the whole are together by moving the anchor points to the end of each object meaning it would rotate from that point for example when I had moved the anchor point(pivot point) on the on the left forearm closer to the left bicep joint, the left forearm will only rotate from that anchor point(pivot point) joint making it look like the arm is attached. In the second screenshot I had organized my characters body parts and parented (Sorted the layer hierarchy)them to the main torso meaning when I move the torso the arms, legs etc all move with it resulting in a efficient walk cycle. The third screenshot I had tired out the puppet pins to the characters arm and had tried moving it about but when I moved the arm in the key frame it had moved the entire characters body because of the way the body was parented. And in the fourth I tried out using a null layer, The null layer acts as a controller for the character. I had made the null layer the parent of both the left shoe and right shoe, making it easy to control how I move the character if I was making it walk

Testing out the walk in after effects by moving between the keyframes. After I had rendered the file I noticed it had lost some quality.

In the second test gif I had tried a different rendering program. It didnt lose any quality but you can notice at the feet it is adding the past footsteps into the animation.

Before I started animating my characters walk cycle, I tested out using different layers for the walk by drawing them on photoshop.

I created my design using a photoshop program called Medibang on the ipad pro.

Here I brought my 2D character into After Effects. I was testing out animating his eyes using different layers for his eyes and just swapping between the keyframes on the timeline.

Here is the finished animation from the tutorial of the changing emotions. After I had finished the animation I then rendered out the file to a video format.
