#20 - The annoyed girlfriend became a social media phenomenon

Short after the first pic posted on Instagram, the project went viral in 2012, and now they have more than 3,5M followers. And their iconic work became discovered by artists, journalists, advertisers, and millions of outlets, ads, and Instagrammers used their pic, or copied the iconic hand-in-hand style.

#19 - Fingering a car

No… Not that way you think. If this Instagram account were a song from The Beatles, the title would be ‘Baby You Can Draw My Car’.

He has a great sense of humor, and it’s not only proven by the really funny, surreal, sarcastic, and colorful creations he posts to Instagram but you can see yourself when you visit his page on Facebook. According to his about page:

Finnano Fenno uses his finger to clean his nose and draw with his telephone, but he is really hygienic.

#18 - Natgeo From a Kayak / tfbergen

Tomasz Furmanek started exploring Norway in his free-time. With a kayak he can explore the unique places in the fjords what you can’t reach by foot. On the breathtaking pictures you can see the iconic kayak bow, what gives you the feeling that you are the rider.

#17 - Perfect Matches in NYC

This Instagram account is dedicated... you guess? … to matchbooks! Manhattan-based photographer Charlie Clarke started collecting and documenting the matchbooks of New York City.

Putting together these white-background-photographed covers results not only a unique pop-art grid on Instagram but represents the NYC dining scene piece by piece.

#16 - The ice cream Earth and the balloon donut / pchyburrs

Beautifully hand-crafted, minimalist pictures by a Sidney-based graphic designer Peechaya Burroughs. She turns ordinary things and objects into art using papercuts, balloons, fruits or even a single Oreo cookie and an iconic white background. #idea_in_picture

As she says on her website: “My photographs mainly consist of things that I create or manipulate by hand. …  Driven by childhood memories and very much fascinated by children’s imagination and their quirkiness, the direction of my photography is light, easy to approach with a little touch of everyday optimism.”

#15 - A Giant Pop Art Collage

Maybe a single post from @micahnotfound won’t look anything particular, but if you look at the big picture (really), you will find out that every single post is a piece of a big puzzle.

Micah Millner visual artist turned his entire Instagram feed into one big canvas where the individual posts together create a huge artwork. It’s basically an endless timeline of today’s pop-culture inspired by current events: movies, sports, video games, music, so you can find in the mosaic David Bowie or the Jurassic World as well.

#14 - The Lego perspective of the World

I tell you guys, this Lego themed Instagram feed is much better than Lego’s official account. The caption in the profile says it all: “Minifigures travellers | Seeing life in Lego perspective”

An Italian couple started taking pictures about their Lego figures just for fun, and their secret is the perfectly combined scenes and figures. Today they have more than 15K followers. The project went viral, everyone can join this world with a photo using the #legoprojectphoto hashtag. Now the original project is sponsored by an Italian toy shop too.

#13 - Fiesta the cat, the dog

Can Instagram exist without cute pets? The answer is absolutely no. So let me introduce you Fiesta, the adorable Jack Russell Terrier, and her awesome life.

The visual artist couple from Buenos Aires, Aquiles Pirovano (@jacktheartist) and his girlfriend Josefina (@shelterfordragons) started documenting their dog’s life with beautifully captured images. Fiesta yawns a lot, likes skateboarding, surfing, sunbathing on the beach, and drinks Corona. She lives a life you’ve always wanted.

#12 - R.I.P. Hipster Barbie - Instagram All-Stars

Everyone heard about Soacality Barbie, aka Hipster Barbie. I bet, she’s an Instagram all-star. Unfortunately the account is closed now, but you still can browse the hilarious pictures of the hipster Barbie, whose creator mocks the millennial hipsters’ cliched photography styles on Instagram. With a Barbie doll.

The five-month-run of Barbie ended in November, 2015. As Darby Cisneros said:  “I started SB as a way to poke fun at all the Instagram trends that I thought were ridiculous. … It's been a blast running this account but I believe SB's work here is done.”

#11 - Pimp Your Beard 101

Pierce Thiot, an art director guy from California, has a big beard. And he sticks everything in it. Everything, literally. And a lot. If I had a big beard I would do the same!

If you follow the lumberjack trend or you are just simply a bearded guy and want to pimp your facial hair, forget the boring glam beard trend and get some inspiration from Pierce. Go for a Christmas beard, a birthday beard, a spaghetti beard or a Lego beard. Or get a whatever beard. Like Pierce.

#10 - Juxtapose the world in 45°

@teaforbear is a creative project by Sergey Minkin and his girlfriend Anastasia Rostova. They call it the “Dual World”: all the photos are captured in 45 degrees, where the two sides of the photo are juxtaposed against each other in a really creative way. The result is a unique geometric style in each photo, and if you scroll through the feed, I guarantee it will be a visual journey.

#08 - Phone boxes in your smartphone

Do you remember those phone-boxes on the sidewalk, or in the railway stations? Or the public telephones near the bus-stops or next to the escalators going down to the underground station?

Honestly, I’ve never used them - as I belong to the Generation Y, but my father did. 

I can remember. Nowadays, these landline phones on the streets are almost dead as we live in the era of smartphones, but decades ago they did play an important role: those payphones were among the first steps to today’s connected world.

Dan Marker-Moore started documenting America’s payphones, and created a virtual museum for these old-school street gadgets right in your smartphone - and you don’t need a single coin to see them.

#07 - Yum Yum, a munching feed

Sometimes the most disgusting things can be turned into art if you find a concept to fit them in. Creating the biggest photo collection of discarded chewing gum pieces could be one.

Sanne Couprie, a photographer from Amsterdam, started documenting the after-mouth life of gum from what he found on the street. When you say ‘ouch’, he says ‘yay’ and then ‘yeah’. The traces of teeth marks, the hair or leaves stuck in the gum, or the gum that is stuck in the gaps in the sidewalk, the freshly spat gum or the old solid ones, the footprints of the unlucky pedestrians - these are all stories explored by Sanne.

#04 - Tumble down the rabbit hole.

The project was founded by four friends, (@emme_enne, @anthonylate, @inanutshell, @buddybradley) and started as a joke during a lunch break. Now it’s a project. 

I’m always excited wondering who will be the next rabbit. Maybe you?
